Linux_Is_Best, to tmobile

The 1 problem about T-Mobile Home Internet is all the idea places to place their gateway (their modem / router combo unit), would ultimately mean either moving or mistakenly bumping into the unit.

That, ultimately, causes a change in the signal I receive.

All the places I can think of that would keep their gateway stationary away from anyone, avoiding any issue, is not likely good for the unity to receive the best signal.

kkarhan,

@Linux_Is_Best WTF?

I guess unlike in where @BNetzA forces them to accept 3rd party routers and modems, the doesn't demand that level of ...

@bea I hope it's some #Iridium-based one so unless they know of https://messaging.iridium.com they'll get billed pretty hefty...

Alternative text = inclusion. Describe images not only for screen readers but for sighted users who read the alt text they can access! meaningful can help to highlight the main focus of why you've posted an image especially on social media.

@mothdust also even if someone isn't disabled it'll help contextualize stuff whilst also providing a meaningful alternative on throttled & slow connections.

So in addition to cluttering up low earth orbit, wrecking terrestrial astronomy, creating the potential for a Kessler Syndrome cascade which could close access to space, and creating a national security nightmare, Starlink internet access is a climate catastrophe using up to 30 times more carbon footprint per internet subscriber than land based internet.

And compared to #Iridium's constellation, #Starlink is fucking wasteful and obnoxiously expensive...

But just like the #Hyperloop & #BoringCompany's #Loop|s were done to undermine #CSHR (#California #HighSpeedRail) funding, so is Starlink done to undermine #FTTB & #FTTH #installations' funding and #ROI...

People keep referring to the Cat 22 flip phone as a dumb phone. It has a touch screen, runs Android, and has the Google Play Store. It is a flip phone, but I think that's too much to even qualify as a "feature phone". Just being a flip having a smaller screen, and having a physical keypad doesn't make something a "dumb phone".

The Daily Beast is reporting that Elon Musk ordered engineers to switch off his Starlink satellites just as Ukraine was preparing to attack the Russian naval fleet with drones. I mean $74M does barely pay 2,5 Proton rockets, so it's not as if that's much considering one is needed alone for that thing and scientific missions never get the scalability bonuses of commercial aerospace like most satellite providers.

    Speaking of Satellite Providers:
#Iridium replaced their aging fleet in 2019 at a cost of $2,8B and those were just 77 in-orbit + 9 ground spares that were sent to space literally in 6-packs and that covers the entire globe.
