I made this wall art/canvas thing a few years ago. I made it from an old pair of jeans and a wooden frame I scavaged from a discarded canvas picture thing.

I basically just cut up the jeans and pinned it to one side stretched it across and secured it the other side.

How'd it look? I might make another soon.

Aha! Scored a free set of asphalt roof tiles for the Little Free Library project. Someone is getting their house re-roofed, and scavenged the scrap in the rubbish bin as I was driving by. Don't need much.

Almost finished the waist shaping on this top down dress. Going to have the fewest stitches now until I cast off!

Trump’s pledges should be taken both seriously and literally.

He has, for the most part, sought to do the extreme things that were dismissed as mere rhetoric when first promised, from enacting a “Muslim ban” to refusing to accept the results of an election.
And yet, here we are again, with Trump making even more extreme promises to “terminate” the Constitution, seek “retribution” against political opponents, and be a “dictator” (just on day one), only to see people unsure what to make of or how to respond to these threats.

This report aims to alter these dynamics by clearly showing how Trump would follow through on his most extreme anti-democratic pledges for a second term and then offering expert recommendations for how to mitigate that danger.
The bulk of the report looks specifically at three things: Promises, Powers, and Plans.
• It collects a set of promises Donald Trump has made, in his own words, for what he would do in a second term. It places them in their proper context, coming amidst a resurgence of similar authoritarians worldwide that Trump has openly admired and modeled himself after.
• It examines the powers of the presidency and how they could be used to implement those promises. It explains the legal mechanisms that will be applied to turn Trump’s campaign promises into government policy and programs. And, it assesses the previously available guardrails that could constrain or prevent these abuses of power and the extent to which they will still hold.
• It explores the plans Trump and his allies have drafted to circumvent or override the checks in our system that otherwise have or could restrain his most extreme intentions. Based on expert input, it describes how these policies will play out in practice and negatively impact American life upon implementation.

I found the joke book I had as a kid in an op shop today. After bringing it home I had the idea for Joke-Understander Bot ( @jokeunderstander ), and felt compelled to bring him into existence.

Please support Joke-Understander Bot by boosting or following him, especially if you're on one of the big instances. Thank you!

It wasn't a very productive day for me, as my focus wasn't there for most of the day. I did, however, manage to create a small project. It's nothing fancy, just a little something I put together for fun.

Disassembly, screw by screw. Fancy looking dresser reveals itself to be pressboard (unsurprisingly) with solid top. Still usable! Will require proper reinforcement. Looks lke these were sold as "solid wood" at the time, LOL.

I'm working a where we're building basically a rolling work cart with tool storage and a desk surface. I'd like to make it not require a power tether but still be able to power a desk lamp and phone charger while mobile. I'm thinking about putting in something like a Bluetti EB3A. It'd be extra great if we could stash that out of reach in the base of the unit but I think it's gotta be turned on and off physically. Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on something like this?

Whew! 3 bedrooms (double runs), one kitchen, one hallway, and two outdoor Ethernet runs done. I still have lots of CAT6 cable left, now I wonder if I should throw some runs into the attic. 🤔 (two other rooms not wired: no exposed walls, and not really wanting to go wall fishing, but maybe I will if I have time between now and drywall... whenever that is--haven't even gotten the drywall people identified yet).

Solution: Build an 5V power supply.
