Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft has delayed its launch a second time, this time due to a helium leak. This is extra hard for Boeing because having that silly-high-helium-voice makes it difficult to be taken seriously when you’re trying to hire whistleblower assassins.

Crossbenchers and Bridget Archer call for David McBride to be pardoned.

A group of 29 federal crossbenchers and Tasmanian Liberal MP Bridget Archer have written a letter to the Albanese government calling for it to request a full for jailed military lawyer .

On Tuesday, McBride was sentenced to prison for five years and eight months for taking classified defence documents about the war in Afghanistan from his former employer, the Australian defence force, and leaking them to ABC journalists.

The documents formed the basis for the ABC investigative series, The Afghan Files, which revealed committed by Australian soldiers. McBride will serve at least two years and three months in a Canberra jail as part of his non-parole period.

The letter, sent on Thursday, urges the prime minister, Anthony Albanese, and the attorney general, Mark Dreyfus, to advise the governor-general to grant McBride a full pardon to “end this injustice”.

“In 2020, prime minister, you told media outlet Crikey, in relation to the Collaery prosecution, ‘the idea that there should be a prosecution of a whistleblower, for what’s a shameful part of Australia’s history, is simply wrong’. It is equally shameful that the first person imprisoned in relation to Australia’s war crimes in Afghanistan is not a war criminal but the source of the Afghan Files reporting, journalism that was undeniably in the public interest.”

The letter also calls for the prosecution of former tax employee, , to end. Boyle spoke out internally, then to an independent watchdog and then to the media in 2018 about the Australian Taxation Office’s aggressive pursuit of tax debts from small businesses, which he said was destroying lives and causing unnecessary trauma to help the agency meet revenue goals.

Boyle is awaiting an appeal decision about whether he can use federal protection laws to gain immunity from his charges.

The group is also calling for Labor to commit to overhauling laws this term, including work to establish a whistleblower commission by next year.

Was sentenced today. Six years, or two years if he gets out on parole.

McBride was not allowed a lot of his evidence in court, preventing any possibility of him winning the case.

David McBride photocopied over 200 proofs of the [ ] military committing, and hiding, war crimes in Afghanistan.

After McBride released his proof to the the AFP raided the journalists. Jailing journalists is a dangerous precedent that the government has toyed with for decades, but never committed to (see ). Jailing McBride is possibly the most damaging thing to Australian the government has enacted in decades. It was possible to pardon him, like they did with Witness K.

Fuck the judge that sentenced him, fuck the prosecution, and fuck the government ministers for not speaking out on this, even the ones that couldn't do anything about it.

It is established fact that Australian soldiers in Afghanistan committed war crimes. Today, the man whose courageous act of whistleblowing brought these crimes to light has been sentenced to almost 6 years in gaol.

This is a dark day in Australian history. Democracy needs people to stand up when they see wrongdoing being committed by powerful people. We should be thanking and celebrating David McBride, not imprisoning him.

It is now illegal in Kentucky to expose the illegal treatment or processing of animals.

When exposing crime is punished, you are governed by criminals.

To clear up some confusion, the red legislature passed this Ag-Gag law, the governor vetoed it, then the legislature overturned the veto, with a few dissenting votes - but not enough to stop the overturn. So the Ag-Gag law is now adopted.

I don’t trust corporations not to kill people; I don’t trust the government to investigate them; and I don’t trust the media or news to report it accurately.

Which is probably why people are okay entertaining that idea that may have killed the .

I don’t think there’s an issue investigating suspiciously-timed suicides of those testifying as key whistleblowers against corporations who are or have ties to major defense contractors.

I think it would be malpractice not to.
