A friend just pointed out:

"ADHD creates impulse control issues and, consequently, advertising takes advantage of a disability. Ergo, ad blockers are assistive devices and interfering with their operation for commercial gain constitutes a willful violation of the ADA."

Let’s do this.

Microsoft Minesweeper is a game included in Windows from Windows 3.1 (1992) - where it replaced Reversi (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?) - to Windows Vista (2006). Originally created by Curt Johnson for OS/2, the Windows port was first included in the Microsoft Entertainment Pack (1990). 💣

The UK is banning puberty blockers but only for trans kids. Cis kids can stay on them for years because they know there aren't any serious side-effects. They just hate trans people.

Apparently cats have been our overlords longer than we thought.

Were Egyptians Really the First to Domesticate Cats? Try Cave Men - A map shows the spread of felines by Egyptians, Romans, Vikings—and prehistoric ancestors. by Frank Jacobs, Big Think May 24, 2024

"...major advances in paleogenetic analysis have helped illuminate the deep past of one of mankind’s favorite pets. In the last 2 decades, it has been established that the Near Eastern wildcat (Felis silvestris lybica) is the common ancestor of all domesticated cats, and that they were first domesticated in the Fertile Crescent about 10,000 years ago.

It also could be said that cats domesticated themselves; they were attracted to the rodents that feasted off the harvests of the earliest farmers. They chose us, not the other way around. In turn, those early farmers appreciated this welcome form of pest control. ...They arrived as a “ready-made” symbiotic species, so to speak..."

Why the Steam Deck is the best game console of all time—according to me:

  1. It’s got an amazing games library stretching back decades
  2. You can dock it to TVs and monitors
  3. It’s got an amazing array of input options: built-in gamepad, keyboards, mice, racing wheel, etc.
  4. Access to multiple storefronts—you don’t even need to use Steam
  5. Repairability: it’s easy to open up and replace parts
  6. Emulation and lots of it, even fantasy consoles that never existed
  7. Optimization means a true console experience
  8. Old games often run better on it than on Windows
  9. Dual trackpads and control configuration means most games are playable, even games that don’t natively support gamepads
  10. I can write documents on it, edit photos, and program on it

You might be thinking, “Hey, everything you do on Steam Deck can be done on a PC!”

And you’re right. But this time you can do it all with a handheld.

Or you can just lay back, use it as a typical games console, and not have a care in the world.
