@ai6yr Just going by my current experience. CA is creating more homeless with its policies. CA is lacking protections & regulations for lodgers. There is NO homeless prevention. You MUST be homeless to receive help, not trying to find housing PRIOR. They are trying to get undesirables off of the street, but families trying to stay housed get no assistance. In this, they aren’t counting most of the families or people in their cars. Most dont tell the state. Why? They take, not help

CA is really stupid. It’s dumping money into shelters that are abysmal & not a stepping stone to housing for people who want it. Many of those homeless don’t WANT to be housed, yet, that’s where they sink $$. Cause those are the homeless people complain about. But they take away programs that can help people that are trying desperately to be housed. My city only had a “safe parking” program for a few winter months. Now the only 1 in the county is exclusive to 1 town’s pop. Criminalized poverty 😡

@Stoneycase @ai6yr Many don’t want housing, treatment, nor help. And won’t stay in a facility. I know. My dad is one of them. The VA & I got him into a facility. He attempted suicide regularly. With anything he could find. Then he would lie about being a drug user to the psych staff & they’d ask me why I was keeping him locked up! 🤦‍♀️ I couldn’t take it any more & he ended up back on the street. It’s a brutally complex situation, but the massive funds are being sunk.

I’m a disabled single mom looking to rent a room, guest house, mobile home, anything. I’m on SSI, so have constant income that’s very limited. We’re currently in SoCal though not afraid to relocate. We’re respectful, clean, quiet, conscientious of utility usage, just sick a lot. I found my previous rentals on Facebook through community, but haven’t been on that in years. This is my only socia now, so 🙏

@TexasObserver American health care has declined substantially since Covid started. It was bad before. It’s abysmal now. There are many conditions the masses have begged for research & help for. America hates disabled people. America hates health care. The response to Covid wasn’t an accident. Americans are really blind to the system it seems.

@RickiTarr I was homeless with no parents. I had C-PTSD & was really messed up. I was badly harassed & told, boys will be boys. 🤦‍♀️ Was kicked out in 10th because I was homeless & had no parents. C’est la vie. But! They did film some of Ferris Bueller at my school when I was there. lol. My hs was kind of a celebrity school then, like Beverly Hills 90210. Now it’s a Charter. 🤷‍♀️

I'm sick of justifying ethical behavior in terms of profit. We use phrases like "adding alt-text brings more customers to your site" or "protected bike lanes increase revenue for local businesses."

You should add alt-text descriptions to images because it helps people.

We need to build bike lanes because it makes cities safer and more accessible.

Reduce carbon emissions because it's the right thing to do! Discussing these things in purely economic terms misses the point.

Your Tax Day reminder that the IRS estimates billionaires evade $150B in annual taxes & DOL estimates $50B in annual wage theft.

That $200B could pay for 4 year public college, insulin for all who need it, & end homelessness in America.

We can satisfy those in need—but not billionaire greed.

Tax billionaires. Invest in working people. Save our economy.

@QasimRashid How about, “invest in people” & “community” because disabled, stay at home parents, caregivers, out of work people, are tired of being expendable & have value too. It may seem semantic, but I, myself, am tired of Biden & politicians only talking about “working” people.

@RickiTarr We know the industry is predatory & causes harm to children, but we don’t restrict or regulate their “working” because it’s “Hollywood”. Both my grandparents started in the industry while children. My gran’ma started acting at 10, in the 30’s & my gramps started sweeping the editing floor at 12, in the ‘20’s. They were all kinds of messed up. Today, they don’t fare much better. With all the work restrictions for kids, we still sell them to Hollywood. 🤷‍♀️

@angiebaby you’d be surprised how many people feel this way. 😔 As a disabled single mom, I experience this a lot. I have a home nurse that doesn’t think I deserve health care because Medicaid doesn’t pay the private rate. 🤦‍♀️ It’s gross. My roommate/landlord faked disability during the writers strike because it paid more than unemployment, but disparages me because I am disabled. 🤦‍♀️And I’m lucky, I have white & pretty privilege. The people most like this support corporate theft though. 🤷‍♀️

Read an article yesterday about the growing disparity between urban/rural death rates & it’s disgusting. That a leading western country would think it was in any way good, much less great, when it’s intentionally killing massive amounts of citizens with lack of care, is ridiculous to the highest degree.

@gerrymcgovern we know it’s capitalism, not digitization, because “they” told us a couple of years ago when Instant Pot went bankrupt because their product lasted too long (10 years). 🤦🏻‍♀️Prosecutors on Tuesday announced an agreement with Attorney General Ken that would ultimately dismiss securities fraud charges he has been facing for nearly a decade.

If you have ADHD, it's hard to explain to (cishet non-ND) non-ADHDers the Othering you experience at every step of seeking treatment to correct an executive function neurocircuitry aberration/variance.

From day one I've received feedback about my hyperkineticism, hyperverbality, impulse control, inability to follow multiple step tasks, my reactivity, rejection sensitivity.

And people wonder why I've only finally found peace working remotely & by cutting out my parents from my life.

@hannu_ikonen sadly, so much this! ADHD, ADD, Autism, PTSD, C-PTSD. There MUST be more of us than there are typicals. Medias make it seem like there’s so much awareness & advocacy now, but I don’t see it. I see it getting worse & harder. I need a homecare nurse now to take me to appointments & make calls because people are so intolerant of anything that’s not calm, cool, & collected, which I AM NOT in our current state of madness! Demand a mask, you’re out of line & discharged!

@hannu_ikonen @DEDGirl my clinic forced me to see a Dr that triggered my PTSD. She refused to mask (I’m immunosuppressed). I fired her. My Medicaid insurance wouldn’t help. 5 months I have been without a pcp! Calling all the time, no help. Of course I’m agitated! Finally, yesterday, I call the state ombudsman! My PTSD/C-PTSD also is with authority & phone calls. It’s so hard! My Medicaid insurance is eager to help me now! 🙌

@maddad @hosford42 @sandlapper37 Shatner has proven to be a cantankerous, unrelenting, old fart. I followed him on Xitter in the before times & watched the entire situation unfold in real time. He loves to argue & instigate. The autistic community tried to teach him truths about the charity he was contributing to. He wouldn’t listen & was very assholey about it. He treated them like they should be grateful he was donating to their cause. I had to block him. Takei is 🥰
