My new ultra-wide lens in interesting. You can get some interesting effects. Here's a hotel hallway/corridor. It appears to stretch on into the distance much further than in person.

(I think I would've liked this shot better if I had gotten down to ground level.)

I went through a fast food drive thru with an automated (dare I say #AI) order taking system. It was comically bad.

Tonight I refused to let my driver's license be scanned at the guard shack/entrance to a gated subdivision. They wouldn't let me in.

I had asked for a privacy policy. They couldn't produce one. The guard assured me nothing bad would happen to my data. He knew this because he's Microsoft certified and said the data goes into the cloud. 🙄

Again, Slack (owned by Salesforce) is changing its look and feel. But this time users aren't allowed to stick with what's familiar and works just fine.

Software companies do this routinely.

It's as if the furniture dealer had the right to come into your home and rearrange everything -- but you weren't allowed to put things back where you liked them.

It's simple corporate arrogance, and the software business is absolutely brimming with it.

I see today is the 30-year anniversary of Doom (the first-person shooter game for DOS).

I vaguely remember having a shareware version (or two) of the game. I installed it and tried it out briefly, but never played it beyond that.

I want to write a review document about a relational database. Are there any tool / language / format to help with not only describing tables and relationships, but also commenting and adding suggestions?

So far the only things I found only renders something about the current state of the database (like a UML diagram), but I can't add manual or programmatic comments.

I thought I was going to have to install Cinnamon for Debian. My 'Dave' user doesn't have permission to run sudo (?), so I logged out with the intention to log back in as root.

Then I noticed this icon (lower right). I guess those are different desktops you can choose from? Pretty cool.

My first attempt at solar eclipse photography.

I'd say this is the best of the lot. A cloud passed by, which 'dimmed' the sunlight enough to allow some extra visual effects (the clouds, a smidge of color).
