Kids were playing Plants vs Zombies GW2. rolled out some anti-cheat shit that works only on Windows I presume. It no longer works on , I cannot explain it to my kids why their game no longer works, although we paid for it.

Recently I keep noticing mention of web3 more and more. Don't know what it is and what it is supposed to be. If I have to guess - it's web, but rendered utterly useless by snakeoil tech of the past decade sprinkled with .

Kids got new Xbox controllers for Xmas. And I cannot get them working on over . Cannot pair them. They work fine with , so it's Linux/btooth stack probably. Controllers are model 1914. Anyone got these working with Linux (boosts appreciated)?

So much for gaming with new controller on .

BTW, I have no Windows in my household.

Like this is actually kinda fascinating honestly, Brother is now the best printer brand, the one that every Computer Person recommends, and is it because their printers are good? Their printers are fine, they print, whatever, no, it's because everybody else's printers have gotten Innovated out the wazoo, every innovation making them way worse, until it's gotten to the point where I wouldn't have one in the house even if it were free, and meanwhile Brother's have remained consistently Fine I Guess, which now makes them the best printer manufacturer simply by virtue of them opting out of the Who Can Get Crappiest Fastest race

Brother have gotten to where they are now, by NOT innovating

    @reginagrogan Well, none of the countries you specified, my experience was with UK, Sweden, Finland and Latvia. I also do not conform to the EU CV template.
    I've done my share of the hiring process in Latvia and only once I stumbled upon a CV with a photo, which was weird.
    But maybe I live in a bubble.

    Is it somehow possible in to assign Wayland session to specific user? Without the need to select it from .
    The use case is that I have a separate user account for gaming and I've found that it better to do gaming under X11. And the thing is, this gaming account also is used by kids, so would be nice to avoid explicitly selecting X11 session.

    At the end of the day, COVID-19 made people realize:

    • They could work from home and that most offices are shitty places.

    • Their job was really shitty.

    • Governments could finance pretty much anything they wanted.

    • Global warming could be stopped.

    • The really important jobs were the ones that are the worst paid (nurses, for instance).

    • Most governments are run by idiots, who are in the pocket of the wealthiest.

    If you have used a mail account that is registered via outlook.com or another service provided by Microsoft to register on chaos.social, you won't receive mails anymore because they blocked us or the whole network of our provider (again). We will not fix it this time, change your mail provider to someone less annoying.

    @briankrebs in 2023 people still rely on going to web sites to download executables to deploy software on their computers. And that's on major OSes. What could go wrong in such a paradigm?
