So, the hubs and I have a one of the long term couple debates about when is the best time to shower.

For me, a shower is calming and relaxing, so I tend to do it in the evening or before bed.

He says it's refreshing and energizing, so it helps him wake up, and get going in the morning.

How about y'all, is it relaxing, refreshing, something in between, or something different entirely? When do you normally do it? Have you always done it the same or have you changed over the years?

chrisbloom,

@RickiTarr
I like to 'wash away the day' and shower in the evening when my day's work is finished & I can relax. I have special, v expensive & beautiful pyjamas to swan about in after my shower, until its time for bed when for sleeping, I change into either an old t shirt in summer or an old skivvy in winter

chrisbloom,

@RickiTarr
These are my summer pjs. Pure silk, present from my daughter. Photo doesn't do them justice.❀️

Socks come in pairs. If you put a sock on your left foot, the other sock of the pair instantly becomes the β€œright sock,” no matter where it is located in the universe.

chrisbloom,

@dgar

I think our washing machine contains a wormhole that selects one sock from every pair the first time they are washed and shoots them off into an alien world somewhere never to be seen on Earth again.

For this reason one sock from every pair now exists/doesn't exist...somewhere? A sort of Schrodinger's Sock, if you will.

Vale Bill Hayden.

My fondest memory of him, which may or may not actually be true (!?), comes from Hayden's own memoir years ago describing Bob Hawke being "...hung like a cashew...", a particularly unfortunate and vivid image!

    The weather today is weird. I just walked out to beautiful sunshine, and when I got to Moorabbin station it was this:

    chrisbloom,

    @timrichards
    We've got similar forbidding clouds here in NSW. And windy. And cold.
    It was beautiful earlier, still warm & lovely.
    I just hope it RAINS!!!

    Too cold here for iced coffee this morning (still only 7.6 degrees atm). I'll have mine hot this morning!! πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‹πŸ˜Š

    CEOs are hugely expensive. Why not automate them?
    If a single role is as expensive as thousands of workers, it is surely the prime candidate for robot-induced redundancy.

    I've often thought this would be a terrific idea.
    I worked as a scientific professional in the public service & after seeing how well everything worked after the dept boss went on extended leave, most of us questioned why he bothered to come back.
    His bosses seemed to agree. He was "promoted sideways" & never replaced. Everything worked smoothly.
    For many CEOs, I doubt you'd need a robot replacement; a cardboard cutout would probably do just as well & be much cheaper!

    I'm well educated. I've worked on water issues and water-related diseases for decades.
    But I cannot, for the life of me, spell diarrhea without looking it up.
    Schistosomiasis, dracunculiasis... No problem.

    chrisbloom,

    @petergleick
    You are not alone. I'm also a scientist (entomology) & I have no probs with most of the complex spellings but spelling "diarrhea" defeats me, also "anaethetist" (?).
    Fortunately I have little use for either word professiinally πŸ˜‚

    I bet my girlfriend that this picture of our cats could get 10 billion boosts on Mastodon.

    She said she doesn't believe me. She said there's only 13 million accounts on Mastodon. She said there aren't even 10 billion people on Earth. She said it concerns her that I struggle so hard to comprehend large numbers.

    Let's prove her wrong everyone. Boost away and show her just how awesome the Mastodon community is.
