Why do people who are happy with care so much whether or not others are happy with or ? If you're really concerned for the well-being of marginalized folks, don't you think we can decide for ourselves where we feel most secure?

For the record, I'm a queer Black person who is happy on Mastodon and has no interest in returning to Twitter or checking out Bluesky. I just don't like paternalism or virtue signaling.

Folks, I could use some support today. Shortly after reading about today's anti-LGBT ruling from SCOTUS, I learned that after three interviews I did not get a job I really wanted and was well-qualified for. I'm also dealing with multiple health issues in addition to my usual depression and anxiety, which isn't helped by all this.

Please read and share my @medium stories and consider supporting me financially.

"They’re not just OK with, but in principle supportive of, having loads of out-and-out on their platform"

"It is our hope that Substack will reverse course and remove all pro-Nazi material under its existing anti-hate policies. If it chooses not to, we will plan to leave the platform."

In my continuing mission to improve the representation of marginalized people on @wikipedia, I have created a (short) biographical article for actress Cynthy Wu, best known for playing Kelly Baldwin on the (awesome) Apple TV+ series "For All Mankind".

This is the third article I've created for actors on that show, following Krys Marshall and Coral Peña:

I keep reading misconceptions about writing for @medium, which annoy me as a long-time subscriber and writer for that platform. To try to clear some things up:

  • Authors can set for each story whether it is behind the paywall (and thus eligible for earnings) or not.

  • Authors can share unlimited "friends links" to bypass the paywall.

  • The subscription fee ($5/mo or $50/yr) gives unlimited access to all stories on Medium, plus a Mastodon account on me.dm.

This racist vandalism on the @wikipedia article about yesterday's in is just a taste of the kind of I witness almost daily as a editor.

Yes, this vandalism was quickly reverted. That's not the point. The point is the vile hatred against people like myself that escalates from idle, "harmless" talk to actual, real-world killing.

Bob Wakefield wisely said "I have a hard time believing that deities care about the outcome of sporting events..." 👍🏿

I agree. 100%!

That's how I learned the word "deism."

A college football teammate asked me why I didn't like prayers before games if I was supposedly a Christian.

I believe in God, but he's not here to save you when I manhandle the O-line and put hands on you. That's not how it works.
