Found this in the bottom of the office closet. Wish my apple //e was booting, would love to see whatever games Romero included on here. I inherited several disks worth of pre-Id Apple 2 code during a brief aborted project to build a hypercard clone for the apple 2 back in 1990.

1979 was also a great year for punk rock, post-punk or ska releases.

I put my favorite of the year in the middle.

Which 1979 release stands out for you?

@historyofpunkrock "One Step Beyond" was 79?! Holy shit. I was 8. Maybe 7. I found that album in the mid 80's and I still listen to the entire album to this day.

This is a healthy counterpoint to studies that show improved productivity.

(In case anyone in the fediverse still needs to hear that)

10 years ago when I got my Model S, service rolled out the red carpet. I can opine for hours on how many ways they've let me down in the last 6+ years.

Latest: hood won't latch, and they want me to drive it across town, on a future date TBD.

Almost traded straight up for a new base model Kia Soul a year ago, kicking myself now.

service update ... had to wait 9 days for mobile service to get parts, estimate was just under $500.

The tech that came out fixed it, lowered the bill to $120, and also fixed an issue with the passenger door at no charge.

Getting service scheduled has been the pain point the last few years ... once I get an actual tech, they are awesome.

I've spent days and days tryna get the CD rig I wanted, java/gradle/github.

What i wanted: 1) A version embedded in and accessible to my app, that 2) has major/minor/build numbers in it, 3) that recognizes when your build is a dev build and when it's a release build, and 4) automagically increases the build number (monotonically, sequence isn't important) on all pushes.

    I got it.

But boy, what a ludicrous amount of effort for such an obvious thing.

    jasonsando,
    @jasonsando@hachyderm.io avatar

@GeePawHill I spent almost 20 years doing mostly Java, then a few years away doing Go, .Net, and JS, and now doing some Java work again and it's SHOCKING that there is no JEP or discussion going into fixing the abysmal state of the Java build tools, it's the biggest issue with Java IMHO. A modern platform should have a cli that lets you manage dependencies and build and run tests, without having to use a 3rd party build system.

It's far worse than the headline implies, IMO.

"According to Cruise, its autonomous vehicle (AV) detected the collision and stopped on top of the pedestrian, then veered off the road, dragging the pedestrian about 20 feet. When the AV finally stopped, it appeared to pin the pedestrian's leg beneath a tire while videos showed the pedestrian was screaming for help."
