actually, why am i being cagey about tangara's price? it's pretty much set at this point. i guess i'm just a bit self conscious bc it's more than i would prefer, but i think it's important to have a bit of buffer so that unexpected manufacturing costs aren't ruinous.

it is also still cheaper than most of the classic ipods were at launch, which i think is a good sign.

I've switched from Chrome to Firefox about a decade ago. It's just as fast and intuitive, and container tabs are a game changer. It always catches me off guard when I see its market share is so low.

So, lots of reports of abuse and bias on Mastodon today stemming from the Middle East conflict. Perhaps this heightened level of hostility derives from the fact this platform skews left, but these issues divide the left. It's kind of new for us. Whatever the cause, hate speech, antisemitism, islamophobia, racism and personal attacks are never called for and will probably get you blocked or banned. Let's commit to zero tolerance for this garbage. We're better than this. Be kind to each other.

One Android tech thing I don't understand: why still ship USB-A cables in 2023? I could maybe understand "people don't typically have USB-C bricks yet" but they include a charging brick!

@christianselig only a small percentage of people have gaming PCs, even smaller percentage have relatively recent ones with a fancy enough case for usb c. for most people usb a is more accessible and interoperable for charging. also when you take into account how a lot of these phones are cheaper and sold in much more low income countries, it just makes more sense.

@drewdevault I converted my library to 256 opus and it worked fine with my phone (lg v60 with big SD card).
it was around 175gb after transcoding and I just had to try a couple of music apps from fdroid till I found one that worked.

symphonium is great if you dont mind closed source paid apps, it has support for local/jellyfin/subsonic and more.
I currently use symphonium + navidrome

@gamingonlinux its definetly really flawed and I agree with the ign article. if they wanted to recreate everything they need to commit to it and go on forever (which is impossible). they need to make more changes to the story to make the way the relationships mature and grow actually natural.
