AND what does it mean when Billionaires can interfere with government activities on a whim? Do we REALLY want American astronauts stranded on the Moon b/c Musk suddenly decides he doesn't want them using #SpaceX for whatever purpose? 🤨
@JamesGleick why would they? SpaceX moved low earth orbit satellites over Ukraine to ensure they could maintain Internet acess after Russia cut off their communication including providing services gratis for many essential services. At some time the piper needs to get paid. Sure private citizens can organize to demand it continue, ask his workers to go on strike, etc. That would have more chance @ success than empty platitudes from liberal politicians..

@JamesGleick Given that the US spent those $75 billion so that their friends, the ones making the PACs and campaign donations, could make money producing and shipping arms?
Not that it isn't the right thing to do, supporting Ukraine. More like America doesn't do the right thing ever, except by accident, when it overlaps with businesses buying policy tell them.
In this case the best thing for those interests is for the war to continue for as long as possible.
@JamesGleick It would seem that Musk should lose his citizenship in the face of such a betrayal of American policy, plus his betrayal of the Ukrainian people. We need to speak out, if only by never using or buying any of his products again.
@JamesGleick I'll take the unpopular stance... To be fair, it is his company, and if he doesn't want his platform being used for war purposes, he has that right.
Whether or not his responses are are uniform or even make sense from opinion to opinion is a separate, and slightly related, matter.
Didn't you know the 2nd amendment allows you to operate overt and covert war operations across the globe as long as the USA doesn't officially have active duty combat troops with orders to fire as needed on the ground where there is direct impact by said private billionaire's war aspirations.

Musk prolongs Russia's genocidal war by protecting the warmongers. Musk thinks he can play god but all he is doing is basically being at war with Ukraine.
@JamesGleick Surely Musk can choose which side he is on? Or if he is neutral? Or do you think all private citizens should be forced into supporting whatever (undeclared) war that the President desires? Difference in opinion and belief no longer allowed?
@JamesGleick It is time to rein him in. Starlink now owns more than half of all active satellites. He can't be allowed to increase that share further. It is a national security issue and an antitrust issue. We can encourage competitors, forbid collusion, and get things to the point where no one player controls satellite Internet.
