🥥 Mad propz to my #Fediverse instance and its #admins for making #Mastodon suddenly work properly again on my mobile devices -- tablet, phone.
For weeks it had been agonizingly slow to load and/or post because of frequent time outs and retry notices.
Was some tweak performed at the server, or did signing up for a monthly donation make the difference?
Don't know.
In any case, since I dread switching servers to beige.party or #Firefish, I will be staying right where I am for the time being. 🥥
@JStatePost I inquired about the same poor performance and was told they're in the middle of upgrading the server hardware to accommodate the increasing demand. I was thinking of moving to a different host, but performance has gotten better these past few days. Given that they're upgrading their hardware, I'm going to stick it out for a while and see how it goes.
@JStatePost What I do know is, your instance is running a badly outdated version of Mastodon itself. It's running 4.1.3 which I believe had a major bug, and 4.1.6 is the latest version.
I'd be bugging the admin about staying up to date for at least the users protection.

Is there a way to send an anonymous notification to @newsie.social that their server version has fallen behind the times.
Seems an issue like that could be awkward for a server for people interested in the news. 🥥
@JStatePost I would contact the admin directly or via the email address on the about page.
This usually isn't a good sign if they are this far behind.
I personally would think about moving to a server that stays on top of things on a regular basis so that you don't have to worry about things like this yourself.

This is certainly one thing here at #AllThingsTech that we strive to never be outdated as it can and will effect everyone on the instance, usually in a very bad way.

I have a credo of not embarrassing anyone other than myself.
Unfortunately, when it comes to tech, I've forgotten more than I ever learned.
