@kylewritescode is there a way to have one account be in multi instances? I believe I can see your post because you were able to post it to the mastodon.social instance that I’m on? Still learning and only discovered following tags last week. I don’t want to have to login and out of various accounts just to interact with people on other instances but get the impression that’s the point? Any advice/input welcome.
@wjordan Hopefully I’m understanding your question correctly. My post showed up in your time on mastodon.social because either you follow me, a hashtag I used, or someone you follow boosted it.
You do not need to have multiple accts. Each instance/server federates with the others.
@kylewritescode thanks Kyle! I do follow the #Tech tag so I guess that’s why I saw your post. Now do I just follow your #allthingstech tag to be part of your instance or join another way?
@wjordan To “join” an instance you’d actually sign up an acct on there. Some 3-party apps allow you to see a different instances local timeline though without having an account.
