@mcfly@leyrer Sounds less scary when you take into account that access to the API endpoint doesn't give you access to the inbox, it only allows you to get permission from users to access their messages. Only after a user agrees you can read/send messages on behalf of the user.
@mcfly The only 'shocking' part of this is that anyone is shocked about it. At this point, finding out that facebook/meta is doing shady shit with your private data is like finding out that Hitler wasn't a good person.

While Meta is REALLY a bad company, I still see its participation on the Fediverse as a good thing.
@DasTausW@HunkThunderzone The common company handbook is that certain type of actions will be only possible on the platform itself and therefore trying to get you back into their walled garden.
