@redcrew As someone who doesn't live too far from Cheboygan in northern Michigan, this is nothing new in our rural communities. I rejoined Facebook just to get my local news and information from my local officials. Everything is done on Facebook and it is very concerning.

He still is a Labour person. It's Labour that isn't Labour any more, having abandoned any pretence of hewing to Leftist ideology. What happened under his tenure is that the party polarised into two camps. Starmer and co ousting him and anyone like him was as much pogrom against ideological enemy as we see elsewhere. If he could ignite that same revolutionary fire in people again he could be as influential to UK politics as Farage has been.
I mean, as a Scot I wouldn't vote for him but I've always believed he's exactly the progressive force England needs right now.
Some people with a bias for institutional authority and deference to elite power condescend to the idea of blogs or citizen #journalism. My hypothesis: part of the reason is the word ‘blog’ sounds funny and people feel self-conscious saying it out loud. #American exceptionalism is the ability to memory-hole first-principles, history, and the meaning of words better than the rest than the rest of the world.
I am so sad this morning to hear of the passing of my PhD supervisor, co-author, friend and mentor Prof. Greg Philo. We have all lost a brilliant and pioneering scholar of media. A real fighter. Ten artykuł warto przeczytać niezależnie od tego, czy ma się coś wspólnego z dziennikarstwem, czy jest się jedynie odbiorcą.
Szczególnie bym go polecił osobom uważającym, że "zaoranie" kogoś oznacza dobre dziennikarstwo. Obawiam się tylko, że akurat te osoby tego tekstu nie przeczytają. A nawet jeśli, to i tak nie zrozumieją, czemu to nie jest dziennikarstwo, tylko szopka dla gawiedzi.
@sithian słuchałem tego wywiadu z @polamatysiak i nawet teraz, po kilku dniach nie wiem po co ona tam się pojawiła. Te wywiady nie są dla słuchaczy a dla podbicia własnego ego prowadzącego.
No cóż, tak wygląda praca zaangażowanej polityczki, szczególnie z partii marginalizowanej przez media. Po prostu trzeba chodzić i przedstawiać swoje poglądy oraz pomysły na rozwiązania problemów.
Oczywiście zostanie to przez Mazurka wyśmiane, a przez masę jego wyznawców uznane za idiotyzm. Ale Mazurka słuchają też zwykli ludzie, dla których często to może być pierwsze zetknięcie się z innym punktem widzenia. Zwłaszcza, że praca mediów pozostawia sporo do życzenia w kwestii wyjaśniania ludziom korzyści zbiorkomu, a już zwłaszcza jego dostępności, o wykluczeniu transportowym nie wspominając.
Tutaj można przypomnieć hasło Razem "mieszkanie prawem, nie towarem". Na początku było wyśmiewane i wyszydzane, ale w jesiennej kampanii wyborczej przywłaszczyła je sobie PO/KO. Oczywiście zrobiła to dla przejęcia tej części wyborców, która nie do końca świadomie głosuje, ale już sam fakt przejęcia hasła oznacza, że jest w nim potencjał.
W przypadku partii nastawionej na szybki sukces tego typu wizyty w mediach nie mają zbyt wielkiego sensu, ale w partii nastawionej na działania długofalowe one będą przynosić korzyści.
Ktoś mógłby powiedzieć, że jakie to korzyści, skoro Lewica miała w październiku słaby wynik. To prawda, wynik był słaby, ale samo Razem podwoiło liczbę osób w parlamencie, często pokonując faworytów, jak Daria Gosek-Popiołek w Krakowie, która znokautowała Gdulę. Na 64 tysiące głosów dla listy Lewicy wzięła ponad połowę i miała ich blisko trzy razy więcej od Gduli, który był na jedynce.
Bycie osobą działającą w małej partii nie jest proste, zwłaszcza gdy faktycznie chce się coś zrobić dla regionu i kraju, a nie tylko dorwać do jakiegoś stołka.
