I am once again taking the opportunity to push my pick for the next Bond.
No one will be happy with anyone they pick, so throw out all the stops and pick the one that'll give you the best film for the new era. It's this guy, Iñaki Godoy, recently starring in the Netflix adaptation of One Piece.
It's out there, but I'm not joking. He'd kill that role. Give us a young Bond movie and give us a young, brash Bond with some seasoning that isn't Old Bay.
It's the confidence of the actor that makes me think he'd be outstanding in the role. Everyone I've told this doesn't see it, but I do. It's not easy to act as cool as ice and have it not be cartoonish or buffoonish. Brosnan, Connery, both unlikeable buffoons. Craig less so but at the cost of his cool factor.
Ironically this show was very cartoonish, it's based on a cartoon, and it still came through. Godoy is an outstanding actor, definitely one to watch for over the years.

That said, IMO the cool thing about the Bond franchise is how adaptable it is to different generations of filmmaking, so it can always feel fresh when it’s rebooted every decade or two.
