Emotionally wrung out after my counselling session. I was supposed to join an online journaling group at 3pm but I was far too tearful. I’m weepy because the counsellor was NICE and VALIDATING and concerned with my wellbeing and happiness. These things make me come undone

Are we being consequential and move over to Bluesky or was that reason against Bluesky and ATP just a petty argument because of "not invented here" syndrome?
Both are open source solutions and from a technical perspective I think ATproto is the much better designed system for a decentralized social network.
Self hosting for yourself is actually viable on ATproto without being a hobby SysAdmin.
Given that there's little to no evidence Jack Dorsey was involved with Bluesky for the last couple years he was on the board, and the Mastodon board member you're referring to doesn't appear to have any sort of decisionmaking capability and appears to be present to fulfill U.S. legal/tax requirements, I'd say both these objections are fundamentally emotional ones, and there's no especially reasonable reason to act on either of them
@timonsku Meanwhile, since the "Jack Dorsey!" objection to Bluesky was probably primarily emotional/"snarling" to begin with, probably removing that objection does not mean "…so now you have different emotions and will have a different opinion on bluesky!", rather it means that for anyone who was saying that before you're gonna have to dig deeper to figure out what underlying reasons were causing them to have those negative emotions in the first place.
