For perspective, Trump put Reality Winner in prison for five years for releasing a single document that showed Russians interfered with the 2016 elections in his favor.
They are after all the same group that let the statute of limitations run out on his first two years of documented crimes, including those centered on the 2016 elections and Turkey.

The biggest thing for me is that ... none of this would've happened if he hadn't've run for President in 2015 into 2016. I read in the Washington Post that Secret Service agents may be the sticking point for actual prison time, but strict house arrest.
I say Congress passing a law that ex Presidents charged with felony crimes are no longer entitled to the benefits of the office would work once the Democrats win the 2024 elections for the WH and Congress. That would erase the order for the necessity for house arrest.

All former POTUS should have protection. They'd be ripe targets for foreign intel if we left them out in the wind alone.

Also the handy fact of having sworn constitutional servants around him is better for keeping him somewhat in check. Their testimony will likely prove significant.
As for prison, I suspect the best scenario we're going to get is home confinement in Trump Tower.
Entirely possible to put him in a solitary setup in a supermax type of thing that would preclude his needing any special Sec Service folks. But I don't see that being likely unless something absolutely nuclear comes out.

A reason to oppose the death penalty is a belief in equal justice under the law, because Black men are disproportionately murdered by the state while white men skate. So, not sure why advocating for equal justice under the law, ie opposing prison for Black convicts vs home confinement for white convicts is something you find unjust.

Somebody on here said the other day that they would accept him "stepping down from politics" as a punishment and said that it worked well in Agnew's case. I have rarely been so mad. Trump is a particularly arrogant criminal who is currently facing 78 charges, and he was found liable for being a rapist (yes, the judge ruled that what he did counts). To NOT have him spend time in prison should have more Americans rioting than the reverse.

But the general opinion of Secret Service agents, asked independently, seems to be that the service could still do their job in a prison. The assignment, having to hang around in a prison all day, would be super unpopular with agents! But it could be done. I want to see him in prison. Home confinement wouldn't be enough for me.

home confinement would be f-ing useless. I did see something about an FBI "safe house" for mob squealers that MIGHT be ok. Keeping him in a normal prison would be tough on its administration, where do SS stay, etc. IF that place on an army base near Baltimore would have no internet, no phone calls, tv locked on msnbc, visitors limited & regulated like in prison, prison-type food, no choices, maybe two rooms like a Residence Inn, I'd buy it. Easier to manage.
