One day it will involve fediverse. So enjoy it here for here now, where the only spam we face is the black market prescription drugs spammers on kbin, and people pushing their own news blogs.
This post doesn't directly affect kbin.social users, but it is relevant. It discusses some of the potential pros/cons of Kbin and Mbin, and also the direction the kbin.earth server is heading.
for a while now i've been looking for alternatives to reddit, because for me it's over. i've been using telegram, scored, kbin and chat-to.dev i think they're the best alternatives to look for good communities on the internet.
I think there should be some incentive for that, like make those kinds of comments a spotlight or something. Maybe make a community called “late replies” that showcases the best such replies, or have a rule saying they grant free karma (in Reddit’s case).
@Kierunkowy74
Yes, moderators can access the reports tab within the magazine panel. Every report must include some reason, hence moderators see them. Regarding bans: without giving a proper reason, no ban can come into effect.
You can also check the modlogs on kbin and lemmy instances for bans (does not apply to mbin). @bayaz@jayrhacker
@bayaz It's you who gave me food for thought, alongside many other moderators! I only found out yesterday how to properly ban spam accs on kbin.social.
I really appreciate all efforts to grow and take care of communities, be it on kbin, on lemmy, or on mbin! Every day, I try to keep learning from other moderators.
Given the sheer lack of moderation tools, many mods do great work. I hope the situation will improve so that moderatoring will become easier.

So I wanted to post a question about a #math problem, and I wanted to reach the widest possible math community on the #Fediverse. Aside from using the correct tag, my first thought was to find a #Lemmy or #kbin community/magazine to cc in the post. And … there isn't one. There's many. Just from a quick search I found https://lemmy.ml/c/mathematics https://lemmy.ml/c/math https://kbin.social/m/math
so now the question becomes … should I cross post to all of them? Or is that poor form?
I'm getting the impression that the kbin magazine would automatically include the post in the “microblog” section if properly tagged, which is actually one of the nice features of kbin, so maybe I can skip that one at least …
I don’t see anywhere on the Voyager readme that is supports kbin instances. kbin and Lemmy are two different backbends that have similar looking front ends. The federation between them is through activitypub, which is why you can see content from kbin instances. I think you would need an app designed for working with kbin directly.
I assume that if you created a Lemmy account and subscribed to all the kbin communities (magazines?) you were interested in that would mostly cover you? I think the federation works?
Does Kbin have any other functionality there that wouldn’t work?
And if your friend isn’t convinced by you and somehow missed the months long protest, destruction of third party apps, and mass exodus, honestly they should stay in reddit. We don’t need another Facebook.
Plus, have you considered that Lemmy isnt singularly owned? You literally can’t say ANY of what you want to say in your ads. “We don’t have ads”. Really? You can assure me that no single instance has ads? Which instance are you even going to link to? Your own? What makes that one special? What happens when you advertise for “Lemmy” and people find the intolerant instances and assume that’s all of the fediverse? What about other offshoots like kbin and mastodon? Not gonna advertise for them? And why should I trust you with money in the first place? For all I know it’s just a scam to collect money and run. What happens when someone else pops up claiming that their donation campaign is the real one and yours is fake? Literally anyone can spin up an instance and claim to be “doing it for Lemmy!”
Look at this fucking mess with these bots and lonely losers with too much time on their hand. They've all taken a dump on multiple instances and magazines....
That's sounding like a feasible option. I've thrown myself back into Lemmy itself because I can't take the constant breaking of Kbin and seeing so much potential just trashed about in instances like this.
How is the size of Lemmy’s userbase changing? Is it growing or shrinking? How diverse is it? What do the current trendlines look like as we approach a year since Rexxit?...

The future of kbin.earth... (kbin.earth)
Hello kbin.earth users,...
reddit is over for me
for a while now i've been looking for alternatives to reddit, because for me it's over. i've been using telegram, scored, kbin and chat-to.dev i think they're the best alternatives to look for good communities on the internet.
When was the last time you answered a Lemmy or Reddit post/thread that was more than five months old?
I think there should be some incentive for that, like make those kinds of comments a spotlight or something. Maybe make a community called “late replies” that showcases the best such replies, or have a rule saying they grant free karma (in Reddit’s case).
