Less than 24hrs to go before Fedivision 2024 kicks off!!

So many amazing and talented artists submitting 72 Original songs written specially for Fedivision and we are less than 24 hours away from hearing those submissions and voting for your favourites!

Each entrant was asked to provide a fictional faction to represent in the Fedivision Song Contest. Each of these factions has a four-letter code associated with it which will be your voting code. For example, my fictional faction is Dizzy Corp. and the four letter code is DIZZ.

Everyone who holds a Fediverse account is eligible to vote for three contestants. A full list of Factions represented, along with their four-letter codes is in the thread below.

Voting will be handled by the Fedivision Vote Bot (@vote) and instructions for how to vote are outlined on the profile page of the Vote Bot.

Be sure to follow the and hashtags, and follow the Fedivision @announce channel for updates!

@dgar There's only one choice for me,

Having a 3 character 4 letter voting code. I don't need to know anything more. That's punk as.

Though...that name may contain traces of U2. Hmmm...

Book review for 2024 is Collin Dexter's The Dead of Jericho. Another Inspector Morse installment. The characterization of Morse in this novel showed an uncertain and anxious detective who works to solve a murder of a woman that he was wanting to have a relationship with (affair is the better word). ☕☕☕ cup review @bookstodon @books @bookstodon

Fujiwara Friday part 2, ft. Hayasaka!

She looks so cute in those glasses, and that turtle neck is so elegant! Hayasaka looks great too! I like the Hayasaka/Fujiwara ship, but Chika will always be number 1 in my heart. I just love her so much :yor_heart:

It's another rainy and windy day here. I would love to share an umbrella with Chika :btr_nijika_heart: I would be so nervous being side by side with her though. I can feel myself blushing just thinking about it...

NaibofTabr, to memes in Hey bro, where'd you put the fission rods?

Swimming to the bottom, touching your elbows to a fresh fuel canister, and immediately swimming back up would probably be enough to kill you.

Yet outside the outer boundary, you could swim around as long as you wanted—the dose from the core would be less than the normal background dose you get walking around. In fact, as long as you were underwater, you would be shielded from most of that normal background dose. You may actually receive a lower dose of radiation treading water in a spent fuel pool than walking around on the street.

there's something weird about git branches that "a branch is just a reference to a commit" does not capture and I've been struggling with it for weeks

like in this diagram I think most people would say that there are 3 branches (corresponding to the 3 commits at the top of the diagram), though technically in git you could have 0, 3, or 100 branches here, and it's not labelled so you have no way to know how many branches there are

(please don't try to explain branches to me ty)

jonathon,

@b0rk Because you lose traceability of which commits were associated with a given branch on merge.

They're fine as long as all you care about is the current state of your code. They're also fine if you just want to look back and see everything that contributed to the current state of your code. But, if I want to ask a question like "which commits were involved in feature ," if you've used branches to do that and haven't annotated your commits by hand, Git cannot answer that for you.
