I've found that playing a #DnD Artificer is a wonderful creative challenge.
I'm describing every spell effect via the pseudomagical-mechanical system that is Artifice in this world.
One example - magical tinkering to create a little sign so that my group knew I went up a ladder.
Another was to have my beetle-crab 'eldritch cannon' pick up a hurl a block and tackle to represent casting Catapult.
Another was when I used Caustic Brew it came out of a prepped flexi-glass vial like a squirtgun.
RPG tip from the archive: Start your session zero with the basic rules of the game. In particular, characters exist to go on cooperative fantastic adventures with their companions.
Akimbo Attack: hits 4 different targets at the same time. Damage 1d6 each.
Compass of Comfort: toddler spins horizontally, with head and feet striking in cardinal directions. Some of those directions are the attending parent's chin, stomach, and private parts.
Rotisserie Escape: twisting out of restraints while twirling.
Projectile V: bonus action, ranged attack. Always catches the target flat-footed and prone.
