Been up to my insane shenanigans again: decided to go and visit the Jellyfish Nebula, so now my ship the Mobile Gravity Well 2 (A Type 10 Defender, a ship wholly unsuitable to use as an exploration ship...) is about 4,000 lightyears from my 'home' system in Daesitiates and still heading out. 1,500 lightyears left to cover to my target system.
Would probably be faster if I didn't keep stopping along the way.
🦾 ARM / Snapdragon X Elite on laptops with Linux :linux:
Qualcomm has been working to upstream Linux support for this high-end "System on a Chip" device asset!
◉Snapdragon X Elite is a bit of a momentum for ARM powered processing
◉Upon success it'll disrupt the x86-processor (e.g. Intel dominated market)
◉One of ARM's benefits is great battery life
This is a very important piece.
If there is any lemonade to be made of the lemon that is the #Ukraine war, it has to be exposing the #elite rot in the U.S.
They sold our industrial policy to enrich themselves and cripple the working class. They treated our defense capabilities like a casino.
They lord their superiority over YOU, while simultaneously ruling over the demise of our nation.
I finally looked up how to disassemble a Pilot Elite (in theory, there are so many different models, but the procedure is likely similar). I guess I’ll have to buy a pair of tweezers as seen in the video. I want to look up the date codes for my Pilot Elites, but some of them have the code on the hidden part of the nib, so I looked up how to disassemble. However, this video stops short of removing the nib, which is not as helpful. 😛
Consider this:
When the U.S. Constitution was drafted human beings were entirely capable of comprehensively understanding nearly every aspect of how the world around them worked.
How to grow food. Run a business. Understand emerging topics in science, math, philosophy and the arts. The optimism running through the renaissance thinkers is not surprising.
The drafters of the Constitution were masters of their world (to often unfortunately include slaves). They were confident in their direction moving into the future because they could predict the future --- based on their comprehensive knowledge of their present.
I'm a very #leftist kinda lawyer in a very rightist kinda region.
In meeting with clients over the years, I note that they often like to talk about politics. I'm not entirely sure why. Some, perhaps do so to "feel out" whether I'm their type of attorney. Some maybe think lawyers have some deeper political insight due to their connection to the law. I don't know. I just know it happens with great regularity.
And being a leftist in an extremely rightist world, you can imagine my discomfort.
Fortunately, I've found a strategy that seems to allow me to bond with clients no matter how rightwhackadoodle they seem. Are you ready for it?
It’s #MutualAid flowing naturally from what is essentially the world first #class free #anarchist platform.
It’s only seems strange because we’re so accustomed to screaming into the wind at the #elite who are the object of the #corporate platforms’ attention #economy.
Left to our own devices, it’s a no brainer that we help one another weather the insanity the elite daily thrust upon on all of us.
I want to play the original Elite game again almost from scratch. Almost in that I want to start with a Docking Computer installed.
I got to Elite status twice. Once on ZX Spectrum and then on Atari ST (I think).
Right on Commander!
What’s the best way to play it in 2024? An emulator on an Apple Silicon Mac? Can you get a USB joystick that’s a clone of the one button and simple stick Atari one that would work on an Apple Silicon Mac?
Angus Duggan's Elite-A is a masterpiece of hacking, taking the original BBC Micro version of Elite and extending it with more ship designs, the ability to buy and sell different ships, delivery missions, an encyclopedia and lots more. It is legendary, and quite right too.
But Elite-A was only released for the BBC Micro, and it simply hangs if you try it on a BBC Master.
Until now, that is!
Elite-A contains a bunch of not-quite-finished code that tries to make it work on the Master, so I've extended and debugged this until, finally, it's working. Elite-A's version for the 6502 Second Processor also now works on the BBC Master's internal co-pro, for maximum luxury.
And it’s also available in a version with flicker-free ships, which looks really slick.
