We don't need another app to install.

When Grab PH bought motorcycle taxi app Move It, I thought I would become a 1st-time customer of that service. I use Grab, so it already has my info. I wouldn't need to sign up and type all my details. How convenient.

But Move It wasn't integrated into the Grab app. Instead, I would have to download a new app.

Bummer. One fewer customer for the company.

InDrive to launch in Metro Manila this month. I hope it can compete with Grab, which has a monopoly of the 4-wheel ride hailing market in the PH.

Idk why the (presumably) traffic guy's busy laughing but this is genuinely really sad to watch. This definitely isn't exclusive to China, just look at how nutty // delivery riders drive their bikes here in Malaysia at times - they wouldn't be able to tell between green or red on traffic lights apart, all that matters are their ratings.

Painful to watch. Chinese working class’s plight in a nutshell. A delivery man was stopped after running a red light and hitting a person. He broke down and kept hitting his head with a helmet: “[I’m] running late,” (which means penalty by delivery app.)

As Grab's top brass meet with the President, could the ride-hailing giant be readying to finally crack into the motorcycle taxi market?

relaunch? readying its even without approval

Why do (older) people here love using “” solutions like eWallet with archaic systems such as having a minimum reload amount (fucking RM20 some more)? If you really need to use eWallet (rather than use ur banks directly which is way, way easier) why not use something better like ’s or maybe even ’s (if Grab’s actually any better)?

Update: TnG eWallet's in-app QR pay scanner works with the standard QR, that's expected. What I didn't know was that similar to if you were to do it directly using your bank's app (i.e. MAE), as long as your card's added to your TnG eWallet, it'll charge the exact amount you're paying using your card - so you don't need to go thru the hassle of topping up first which has that stupid RM20 minimum.

Haven't tried it yet, but I imagine it's the exact same process when dealing with TnG's specific QR payment code (rather than DuitNow's), which as far as I'm aware, doesn't support QR payments thru banks.

TLDR;

  1. TnG QR != DuitNow QR
  2. DuitNow QR is the standard and supports QR payments thru Banks directly or eWallets such as TnG
  3. Banks don't support TnG QR, need to use TnG eWallet for that

Food delivery companies in Southeast Asia are facing the challenge of adapting their businesses in order to maintain a hold on the increasingly competitive post-pandemic market — or risk being absorbed by bigger players. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2023/11/05/companies/southeast-asia-food-delivery-competition/?utm_content=buffer2192b&utm_medium=social&utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=bffmstdn

Grab PH should not be allowed to buy Foodpanda PH because that would create a virtual monopoly in online food delivery services. Grab PH already controls the 4-wheeled-vehicle ride hailing market when it bought Uber PH.

@DocCarms

Analysts say Grab PH buying Foodpanda PH would lead to almost zero competition, resulting in higher prices for consumers.

Uber's $394m gains this quarter come from paper gains to untradable shares in its loss-making rivals - , , - who swapped stock with Uber in exchange for Uber's own loss-making overseas divisions.

The GOP Is Trying to Steal Democracy in Ohio. That Has National Implications.

is already one of the most states in the country. Its maps are so unfair that its own state Supreme Court voted multiple times to send the maps back to the drawing board, only to have its rulings repeatedly undermined, the clock run out, and the still used in the midterms.

Now, a new threat looms in the Buckeye State. Facing the prospect of a to statewide this November, the GOP-dominated Ohio legislature is moving in advance to block it.

They have proposed a measure to increase the vote requirement for a constitutional amendment from a simple majority to 60 percent, along with making it far harder to qualify a citizen initiative.

In short, the Ohio GOP wants to write in a supermajority requirement, just as the will of the majority, which favors reproductive choice and the protections of Roe v. Wade, is about to make itself heard.

Wait, can they even do that? Just blatantly , right as progressives are getting ready to score?

Unfortunately, there is no legal barrier preventing this. Instead, the people of Ohio need to make it clear that they will not put up with this .
