Hm. “…dressing gown depending from a hanger…” - John Dickson Carr. I’ve never seen the word “depend” used in this manner, but it makes sense since “depend” means to rely on something for support.
Punctuation placement is important. It's the difference between this being a certain brand of pancake syrup and...boy syrup. I really don't want to know what boy syrup is.
I never learned how to use a semi-colon(;) in school. I still don't know how to use one now. It is time for me to just admit that I probably won't ever need to know how to use one.
Concerning #grammar & #spelling, I no longer adhere to #prescriptivism as I once did. #Descriptivism dovetails far better with my acquired understanding of language as a living, growing, metamorphosing creature that will not be contained or constrained by any rules we humans try to place upon it.
