Well. That's done — 100% and all achievements for . Entirely on the .

It probably crashed 2 dozen times ... over the 182 hours of gameplay. Not bad at all.

(Probably more stable than any PC I ever built, tbh.)

And this is the last Horizon post for a while, y'all. I swear.

A screenshot from the Game Completion statistics page of Horizon: Forbidden West. It shows 100%, plus a bunch of minutiae like quests completed and items collected.
A screenshot from the Game Progression statistics screen from Horizon: Forbidden West's "Burning Shores" expansion. It shows 100% in big text at the top, plus two columns of minutiae.

Fitting, I think, that my re-play on the SteamDeck saw the completion of the main game this morning. I haven't started on the Burning Shores DLC yet.

Overall, the first 3/4 of the game is pretty stable on the SteamDeck ... until you get to SF. I had 2 or 3 game crashes before then, but at that point the game started crashing so hard it would lock up the SteamDeck and require a reboot. Nothing specific seemed to cause them, just mundane stuff like opening up the map, or scanning a datapoint.

rick,
@rick@ricko.social avatar

But to be fair, I skipped some of the mini-games:

  • Didn't play any Machine Strike
  • Didn't do the races
  • Didn't fight in the Melee Pits

I also didn't spend much time grinding for gear or resources. I didn't just zip from point to point, but nor did I dawdle. Steam says I have 93 hours played, so it feels about average for a casual-but-thorough playthrough of the quests.

After only 57 1/2 hours of play time, I have beaten Horizon Forbidden West's main story.

I did do quite a bit of the side quests as well, but not all of them.

I've now unlocked the Burning Shores DLC which I'll jump into at some point soon.

Super fun game, just like the first one was. Glad to have completed it on PC.

@cliffwade Cool. That was my assumption, but thought I'd check. Might lookup a good story explainer because I thought the story was shaping up to be interesting.

cliffwade,
@cliffwade@allthingstech.social avatar

@hybridhavoc The story in both games is absolutely AMAZING! I usually don't particularly care for the story in most games. I play to have fun and to enjoy the game itself. But the story here you simply can't ignore in my opinion.

continues to impress the shit out of me. It was snowing, and the snow collected on the surface of a pond. As I walked through the pond, the snow was displaced and left a trail behind me.

This is such an astounding attention to detail. They didn't have to do this, it would have been perfectly acceptable video game behavior if it ignored me.

Another angle on the previous image.

@Impossible_PhD I have one massive complaint about FE. The weapon upgrades are WAY TOO GRINDY. I gave up on it because I got so sick of killing stormbirds, tremortusks and the snake things. I spent like four hours on it yesterday and still didn’t get my legendaries upgraded.

Impossible_PhD,
@Impossible_PhD@hachyderm.io avatar

@twipped Hard agree. I upgraded my one favorite melee and ranged item, and then just used them for the rest of the game.

But then, it's an ubisoft game. They're all grind, once you dig down deep enough.

Good morning and happy Saturday everyone here in the today.

It's the weekend, so let's talk about what our plans are for the next couple of days.

For me, it's just a weekend to rest and relax and enjoy the days. I'll be playing some Horizon Forbidden West as well as No Rest For The Wicked.

Other than that, not much else planned.

@Bianca These are just two of the dishes from the last time we went in 2021.

That bowl of macaroni and cheese could seriously feed two people.

That burger is a double and you see how little of the knife is left showing.

The bowl of mashed potatoes are enough for two as well especially with all of that melted cheese they put on top.

@Bianca Couple more photos. Again, a huge double cheeseburger and that chicken pot pie is absolutely enormous and a meal for 2 people, easily.

Good morning and happy Saturday to the entire today!

It's the weekend, so let's all talk about what we all have planned and hope to accomplish over the next couple of days.

I plan to rest, relax and enjoy some video games. Finally able to get started on No Rest For The Wicked and will of course play more Horizon Forbidden West as well.

Nothing much beyond that, hopefully.

@cliffwade Yeah, I was meant to do the half marathon last weekend, but injured myself a month back at a race so only actually started running again Monday.

Did well enough, race was mostly fun, the flapjacks after were also great.

Today the mailbox, tomorrow the neighbors house. lol

cliffwade,
@cliffwade@allthingstech.social avatar

@RemeJuan Oh, sorry to hear about the injury, but at least you're good enough now to have run stuff today.

Flapjacks are always worth it, for sure!

Haha, yeah. First I have to make it to the mailbox before I think about the neighbors house. LOL

I'm now just over 30 hours into Horizon Forbidden West and this is where the game really starts to get amazingly fun and hard to take a break from.

Currently level 27 and doing a ton of side quests that I had accumulated while doing the main story.

I'd say I'm about 1/5th of the way through the main game itself.

cliffwade,
@cliffwade@allthingstech.social avatar

@jnv Both absolutely amazing games!

I've completed the first one several times, and this is my second time playing this one, as I played it on PS5 the day it came out.

Good morning and happy Sunday

It's the last day of the weekend, so let's discuss what are plans are for the day to round it out.

For me, it's going to be a lazy day as much as possible. I don't plan to do much beyond rest and relax and likely play some more Horizon Forbidden West.

cliffwade,
@cliffwade@allthingstech.social avatar

@RemeJuan Whew, 90kph is pretty strong. We too have been getting a lot of wind here over the last few days.

Enjoy the day relaxing as much as possible.

I just saw MsCupcakes streaming on PC and I think it's the first I've seen with granular difficulty settings explicitly listed in the menus. You can apparently set difficulty in combat independently of difficulty in exploration. It also lets you change how aggressively it suggests hints/gives you the solutions to puzzles vs letting you struggle to figure it out on your own.

Is that normal for AAA games these days? Because that's really awesome and I absolutely wish that more games came with stuff like that instead of relying on the modding community to figure it out. There's also a bunch of convenience and settings which is also cool.
