Since some of you seem to enjoy these tessellation experiments, here's an old projection mapping installation project of mine for which I combined similar patterns with digital fabrication (laser cutting & cutting plotters) to produce two Victorian-style room dividers with 620 handfolded paper cones, which were then used as 3D projection surface. Visitors could use an iPad app, housed in a small dolly table (also laser cut), to produce custom animated patterns which were then projected onto the paper cones...
A couple of weeks ago I finished a beast of a project.
The interactive installation (titled InStability) is an artistic endeavor to demonstrate how seismic stations in Iceland detect earthquakes.
Visitors are invited to touch the map, triggering "earthquakes", and observe how LEDs, representing seismic and GPS stations, light up as the seismic waves propagate across Reykjanes peninsula.

📰 The newest version of Unison is here. Version 0.5.19 ships with better error messages, performance improvements and a change to the "upgrade" command that makes refactoring downstream code an even nicer experience in Unison. Full release notes are here: https://github.com/unisonweb/unison/releases/tag/release%2F0.5.19
Saturday I bent all the letters in all the colors for this collaboration with Alicia Eggert. A little bigger than I remember them, but that is nice.
That turquoise wants to stain so much. I got it way hot and bombarded it about 6 times which seemed to help reduces the size of the stains. I think they didn't bake out the binder from the coating? None of the other colors had the staining.
📰 The newest release of Unison, version 0.5.18 is out:
✅ Builtins for cryptographic signatures using Ed25519
✅ Tweaks some parameters relating to pull that should speed things up
🪲 Fixes long-standing bug preventing directly editing definitions with operators in their paths (e.g. Text.++.doc)
#solar#installation stage 1 is almost done. Some cables were missing from the delivery so I had to postpone the finalization. Wow, those batteries are heavy. 😝🫣
My partner & I also finally finished this skull installation, and it's in a spot that's difficult to photograph (right now), but it looks incredible, take my word for it.
