MyDramaList is a really useful app - helps me organize my drama watchlist & helps me be more strategic with the way I watch dramas. I have a "plan to watch list" and pick just one or two from the list to watch at a time. It has proven to be super effective - I'm able to focus and absorb a drama better rather than jump from drama to drama.

You know, one of the most interesting criticisms I heard of #KDramas this year was that it's becoming too "Westernised". (This was in some forums I've been in.) TBH, I didn't understand what they mean, but when I watched #TheVigilante, I got an inkling. It felt unnecessarily violent, gory & had little heart. It was well-executed but I just didn't feel moved by the main lead's murderous motivations.
Don't know, something feels off with Kdramas lately but I can't put my finger on it.

I am currently deep in #cql and #danmei fandom, with forays into #bl and #kdrama as well. I like #rarepairs and making every character bisexual and/or nonbinary. I also read a lot of #SFF and am more than willing to talk about the books I've been reading (#TheBurningKingdoms anyone?)
When I watch #Kdrama romances, especially historical show, the story is often set up where the audience is supposed to cheer for a prince or a king as the love interest, but there's almost always a man of lower rank who is educated, loyal, principled, and tries hard who I swoon over. Substance over status for me!
Uh did I tell you that I also started a Cdrama (mostly) /Kdrama podcast? Yeah, well, I did lol.
I'm still trying to get my act together - I find it super tough, for one, to upload to apple podcasts. So it'll take some time to get it distributed everywhere. However, you can listen to it on Spotify for now.

This tweet got me LOL because it's so true. If you say out loud that these traffic/idol actors are less than perfect, it's like drawing a bullseye on your tweet for the superfans to come out of the weeds and eat you alive.
Predictably this poster got lots of hatred as a result, but she's amused about it.
This is one thing I cant stand about fandom. I often have to censor myself as I do not have the mood to deal with these parasocial superfans.

I have actors in a personal blacklist whose dramas I will never watch because they are so bad at acting. I don't like Till the End of the Moon, couldn't tolerate Love Between Fairy and Devil and thought Hidden Love was boring. The Untamed's popularity is perplexing to me.
But why get upset over this? The world is vast & our tastes are diverse. Me not liking your fav show does not discredit or devalue your love for it.

Did I ever tell y’all about this #kdrama I finished recently? Missing: The Other Side is a #fantasy#mystery#thriller about a mysterious village where the spirits of dead missing people live. Their spirits go to this village and stay there until their bodies are found in the living world. Some spirits have been there for decades. The oldest spirit, Thomas, has been there for 100 years.
Living people aren’t supposed to be able to see this village, but for mysterious reasons, two living people do: Kim Wook and Mr. Jang Panseok. When Kim Wook tries to tell the police that he saw a missing child in this village, they think he’s hallucinating bc all they see is the woods.
Kim Wook grew up in a children’s home after his mom abandoned him when he was seven. Mr. Jang’s daughter was kidnapped from an amusement park on her bday 15 yrs ago and he’s been looking for her ever since.
The first episode was kind of hard to get into, but each episode left me wanting to know more.
I also visited South Korea many times. Once, I had to cover (as a reporter) an event where a #KDrama actor was an ambassador for a brand and I am annoyed I can't remember who it was till this day cos I wasn't into #KDramas then. The last time I visited #Seoul was around 2019*, when I had to report on the commemoration of Korean Catholic saints.
I miss being a journalist 😭

In other fan places people insist you must not "spread negativity" by saying negative things about a show or actor. I have even been warned not to post "things like this" or "you get what you deserve".
If I don't like a show I will very well say it. And if I think an actor's performance needs work, I will state it without prejudice.
I rarely do this, but I find fandom gatekeeping annoying & am so glad it doesn't happen here. #KDramas#Cdramas

I laughed out loud at seeing that the top edit on wikipedia was the #kdrama actor best known for playing villains so nasty that an elderly ajuma once hit him on the head with her purse at a restaurant.

This one is marvelous! It’s on the favorites list for sure. It’s a bit slow to provide the backstories that make the characters’ actions make sense, but everything seems to be coming together now!
This is sort of an anti-rec? D.P. is an amazing #KDrama. Think military comedy-drama, like MASH. Funny and heart-breaking and well done.
BUT. If you're a #KPop stan like me, and anxious about certain South Korean persons doing their compulsory military service? Um, maybe might give this one a pass. Me, I'm already hooked.
