Today dozens of scientists & academics are joining the @klimaatmars climate march on the Zuidas. This Amsterdam business district holds the big polluting companies that our govt sustains with permits, billions in subsidies & legal advantages, protecting them from climate measures. (1/4)
👉 Stop funding the destruction of climate and nature.
👉Take back power from big corporations.
👉Put the 99% first again and place the heaviest burdens on major polluters.

Today I joined my home town (Brussels) and the 20,000 participants in the Climate March, to sing, to be together, to remind everyone of the urgency of the climate in this time of COP28, the solutions that exist, and that the planet doesn't give a damn about pauses in climate action.
De grootste klimaatdemonstratie in de Nederlandse geschiedenis werd een demonstratie van de zelfsabotage van links. De immense massa die zich verenigde voor een leefbare planeet, werd gespleten toen ineens ander onrecht de microfoon kreeg.
People in #ClimateMarch Amsterdam are complaining that Greta Thunberg & others ruined the "good vibes" in saying that there's no climate justice on occupied land...
So I get that any movement needs to do things to keep up morale
But do you think climate catastrophe was going to be 'good vibes'? That massive crop failures and mass starvation would be 'fun'?
The reality of climate breakdown is war, especially in a world ruled by colonial & imperialist forces—it's already happening #klimaatmars
Dutch racism was on full display again during today's #ClimateMarch in Amsterdam.
Sarah, a Palestinian-Dutch person, wants to speak? Not a chance.
Sahar Shirzad, an Afghan-Dutch human rights activist, wants to speak? Only if she promises not to mention Israel's genocide.
Greta Thunberg steps in to say: Let these women speak? Some white guy jumps on stage, grabs her microphone to try to shut her up, because "climate issues shouldn't become political"
En dan iemand op het podium die Greta Thunberg het woord ontneemt. Want #climatejustice en #climatechange hebben natuurlijk niets met politek te maken ... 🙄
We’re now one hour into the Dutch #ClimateMarch (#klimaatmars). The crowd is so massive that I still haven’t reached the starting point of the march yet. A marching band is playing ahead of us, and there’s lots of friendly conversation. Every time the group is able to step forward, everyone claps and cheers. Lots of interesting signs, in English and in Dutch. It’s a hopeful, #gezellig atmosphere.
En nu geeft Greta Thunberg de microfoon weer aan de Palestijnse en Afghaanse activisten, die zo net door de organisatie werden gesilenced. Greta Thunberg is een held! Echt wow!
