wie würdet ihr die Gründung eines Makerspaces/Reperaturcafés angehen? Einen Raum kann ich eventuell bekommen, Dinge dort zu lagern wird aber eher schwierig. Ich sehe hier die Notwendigkeit für so etwas, auch im Hinblick auf "Nachwuchsförderung".
Wie läuft da die Versicherung, wo und wie darf man Gelder sammeln, wer haftet wenn etwas Defektes trotz Arbeit und Material defekt bleibt oder wie nehme ich sowas aus?
Hello! I have a question for people running smallish makerspaces in the UK - like, a big room with several tables in?
How much (approx, ballpark) do you spend on consumables per month? (Refreshments, 3D printer filament, woodworking bits, any other supplies.)
Also how many members do you have?
I'm asking because we're applying for a grant to cover running costs and we're being asked for an estimate of what we expect to spend, but we don't yet have premises. We'd be allowing members to use e.g. filament, tea bags, etc. for free, if we get the grant. So I do need to know how much it costs in the first place, even though you probably usually do get it covered by people buying/donating for what they use in most hackspaces!
I’m back! (Official as of last night). My Mastodon instance was down for some urgent server maintenance and it ended up being offline for a couple of days.
Guess what our instance Admin was doing during this critical time? Turns out he ( @mcdanlj ) was having a beer with me! 🍺😁
To be fair it was our hosting provider that was having to deal with the issue.

My local #makerspace is re-opening soon and they started using a corporate, profit driven, centralized, closed source chatroom (Slack). I want them to use an open source, federated, community driven chatroom instead (#Matrix).
Does anyone know of other Makerspaces that are already on Matrix that I can tell them about?
Having a slack channel to pull in Slack users and get them over to Matrix, where the action is at, seems like it'd be a good strategy.

Ceramics update!! I finally successfully made a tall-walled vessel!!
I’ve spent 5 wheel classes trying to make a tall mug and could only manage asymmetrical small teacups and wobbly bowls. Look at this tall and mostly symmetrical bby.

We're all on low incomes and our town council is broke, and our community sorely needs free and cheap ways to socialise comfortably indoors, and to make and repair things to save cash.
