The service frequency of MAX Light Rail outside of the downtown core is pretty bad. :/

Columbia Employee Store pass for but also other locations in the US and Canada. If you haven't been, you can find some good quality stuff for cheaper than retail. I buy my shoes, boots & slippers here as well as clothing. Expires end of July 24

@bikescape asks:

Q6. Does your community have a tool library?

Here’s a great video of a Portland tool library with a focus on bike tools: https://youtu.be/NUbFJjPewh4?si=EaA_YXWsZGj3xcVK

A6 @ascentale @bikescape while that video by @bikestuffpdx is of a tool library that's across the river from me, there is a small one starting in Hillsdale too (SW .)

I love the end of this story about yesterday's power outage caused by a beaver:

More important still, Gutierrez confirmed that “the beaver was okay.”

Saw a couple good this week. First up was the classic adaptation of REBECCA, one of the all time great Gothic romance thrillers. We got to see a lovely print of it on the big screen at the iconic, beloved Hollywood Theater here in . It's an extremely subversive film for the era (1940!!), with brilliant themes and brazen subtext. Was presented as part of a queer film series and the crowd was brilliant - knowing and engaged but respectful. Superb

Just popping up to share that we now have confirmed dates for the West Coast leg of my Lifehouse tour! It would make me beyond happy to see you on August 1st at Elliott Bay in Seattle (w/Dean Spade!),
August 3rd at Page Against the Machine in Long Beach,
August 6th at Green Apple’s 9th Ave store in San Francisco, or August 8 at Powell's in Portland – and hopefully break bread with you afterward. Feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested!

Oh, and a very important follow-up request for folks in #Seattle, #Portland, the #BayArea and the #LA basin: if you work with or know of any #mutualaid efforts that would like to present themselves to my audience, set out literature, etc., please let me know as soon as possible. It’s my great hope to use each one of these book talks to share a little bit of shine with local organizers in every city I’ll be visiting. 👊

, OR 🇺🇸 is the first “smoke stop” on the southbound Coast Starlight: everyone who wants may get off the train for a moment and stretch their legs. The lovely departure board in the main hall dates back to pre-digital times. And we again meet the Cascades .

still fuming about this one, fellow . A Mini Cooper operated by a drunk with past Being An Awful Human charges drove three miles up a "protected" path before slamming into a bollard. The out of state commenters of course blame... the homeless :(
