If you are a person with skills, this has potential. No connection to the seller, might be a scam, and all the caveats. On the other hand, that's an interesting project.
Columbia Employee Store pass for #PDX#portland but also other locations in the US and Canada. If you haven't been, you can find some good quality stuff for cheaper than retail. I buy my shoes, boots & slippers here as well as clothing. Expires end of July 24
Saw a couple good #movies this week. First up was the classic #Hitchcock adaptation of REBECCA, one of the all time great Gothic romance thrillers. We got to see a lovely print of it on the big screen at the iconic, beloved Hollywood Theater here in #Portland. It's an extremely subversive film for the era (1940!!), with brilliant #gender themes and brazen #queer subtext. Was presented as part of a queer film series and the crowd was brilliant - knowing and engaged but respectful. Superb
Just popping up to share that we now have confirmed dates for the West Coast leg of my Lifehouse tour! It would make me beyond happy to see you on August 1st at Elliott Bay in Seattle (w/Dean Spade!),
August 3rd at Page Against the Machine in Long Beach,
August 6th at Green Apple’s 9th Ave store in San Francisco, or August 8 at Powell's in Portland – and hopefully break bread with you afterward. Feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested! #mutualaid#climate#anarchism#books
Oh, and a very important follow-up request for folks in #Seattle, #Portland, the #BayArea and the #LA basin: if you work with or know of any #mutualaid efforts that would like to present themselves to my audience, set out literature, etc., please let me know as soon as possible. It’s my great hope to use each one of these book talks to share a little bit of shine with local organizers in every city I’ll be visiting. 👊
#Portland, OR 🇺🇸 is the first “smoke stop” on the southbound #Amtrak Coast Starlight: everyone who wants may get off the train for a moment and stretch their legs. The lovely departure board in the main hall dates back to pre-digital times. And we again meet the Cascades #Talgo.
"The county expects to release updated election results by 6 p.m. Wednesday but does not expect to tabulate results from all of its tens of thousands of unopened ballots until later this week"
The contrast with failed #VisionZero plans like #Portland's seems pretty basic: "They said: 'You as provider of the road transport system are no longer allowed to kill people on that mass level that you've done'
In case you missed the excitement in our neck of the woods, a pop quiz on safety was failed by a poor student.
"At around 1:15 p.m., Portland Fire & Rescue crews along with the Multnomah County River Patrol and the United States Coast Guard Station Portland responded to the rescue on report of runaway 16-foot boat in the river and a man in the water yelling for help."
I tramp around Mount St. Helens just North of #Portland in Wa, its sort of untouched and completely changed slopes. I’ve heard how gorgeous it was prior but this OPB report gives glimpses.

I can't believe how #Portland voters keep electing the right-wing candidates, maybe the progressives moved out to Beaverton. Schmidt has gotten nothing but bad faith from the police and the republican city council isn't doing us much good either.
I participated in a workshop by city of #portland to discuss civic use of AI. I contributed a rubric of "assistive" versus "determinative". The first case may be a helpful use (subject to usual concerns about energy, creative rights, bias, etc etc etc). The second case is where things get dangerous. #pdx
