Let's stop playing dumb here, Hamas didn't waste time tormenting civilians, although there were civilians captured obviously. This operation was planned targeting a wide swathe of military bases. You could see videos of these people being caught out in their cargo shorts and polos - soldiers deployed on a military base who like it or not, it was not "war crimes" to ambush.
