Discovery: What if every single season, humanity was about to end?

Star Trek Picard: What if every single season, humanity was about to end, and we also know the protagonists.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds: What if viewers actually cared about every single character on that show? Oh, and here's a body swap episode. COURTROOM DRAMA. I doubt we will be bunnies. ALL SYSTEMS STABLE! You guys look very realistic.

By now, is my favorite new trek show. And it's not even close.

tiberiustribun,

I can't believe I slept on as long as I did. I guess I was put off by the fact that MacFarlane is the guy. A Star Trek parody rooted in that style of humor did not appeal.

Imagine my surprise to learn that it's not a Star Trek parody. And it's not Family Guy-esque. At all.

It's just... well, it's not Start Trek. But it's like getting to watch a Star Trek unburdened by canon. MacFarlane has crafted a very fine love letter to Roddenberry here.

claudius,

@squigley "unburdened by canon" is a great way to explain it! I know soooooo many trek fans who lose their gagh because some Klingon clearly had different ridges 20 years earlier. This is ridiculous, of course. It's a story. And The Orville sidesteps this entirely, it truly is "unburdened by canon" :-D

People keep telling me to watch , that it gets better in later seasons, etc, but I just can't get behind its swoopy Star Trek-style spaceships and silly plots. ruined me for space opera.

#introduction

Hi. It’s nice to meet everyone here. My #1 favorite fandom is #StarTrek. I enjoy reading Trek novels and am currently co-host of Trek Book Club (on Twitter as of now). Some of my other favorite fandoms are #JamesBond, #Babylon5 & #TheOrville. Some of my other interests include #Astronomy, #Trivia & #Soccer (Go #NYCFC!).

During the day, I’m a HR Project Manager at a non-profit social service company, which is my 2nd career after my initial career in banking operations & IT.

Hello, everyone!
This is my second post under this new profile.
But I'm not #newhere. Something on the road since 2018 in Fediverse.
My last account under Mastodon with SciFi content was a little going on.
I was always curious about Firefish/Calckey.
In addition to a picture account at Firefish (with Pixelfed I don't get so warm) now here is a profile for science fiction love.
Among other things, #StarTrek, #Stargate, #TheOrville and #Babylon5 are my interest.
Hope for some nice exchanges here (also via #Threema, #Signal or Matrix/XMPP).
Thank you.

Painterly style digital illustration of an owl -ish humanoid character. His eyes have no pupils but ae only read and he has a second head of smaller read eyes on his forehead that mimic his face expression. He has a little beak with a black tipp and his color is blue-ish to gray-ish. Her looks a bid sad and surprised.
A mechanical looking Android with blueish glowing eyes looking at his right hand. Tone of the picture is cold-blue-ish. The Android's body is with silver metal and black fabric were the joints are. His head has no detailed facial features. Just to glowing lights from under the surface looking curiously into the world. In the backround a rough drawn backround. The innerpart of a spaceship. He is standing near a window and light comes from outside
A side portrait with rough black ink lines of Batman in his costume. His look is stern. It is a bust view. In the backround is only little detail, very blurry. The shine of the light is a purple glow that reflects on his helm and cape that is flowing to the front. The overall vibe of the picture is calm and dark, but not sad. Just calm, stern and without too much visual or emotional noise.

The multiverse is canon in Star Trek (see TNG episode: Parallels), therefore The Orville is just another parallel universe.
