Weird. Trying to connect a Javascript websocket client to a Python-Tornado websocket server. The websocket is closed as soon as the connection is established, but I can't tell which side is the culprit or why it's happening.
I hear everyone at ORD (O'Hare International) was sent to the #tornado shelters again tonight, which means they are running everyone back through security now. #Chicago#ILwx#SevereWeather
#Tornado Watch for #Montreal is a totally normal thing and is not yet another bit of extreme weather and an indication that the planet is indeed burning⸮
Are #waterspouts a normal thing in #Oregon? I'm from #Tornado alley and I was under the impression that I had gotten away from them when I moved to #Portland but I heard we had several in the past few days. Not cool! #PDX#weather#pdxtst#PNW
Post from Reed Timmer this morning: "Battling severe allergies from the manure #tornado southeast of Kimball, NE. Cannot open left eye" 😂 (does that count as a tornado injury?)
#Benton, #Arkansas: National Weather Service: #TORNADO WARNING in this area until 2:15 AM CDT. Take shelter now in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Check media. Source: NWS Tulsa OK
I grew up in an area in Michigan very prone to tornadoes. One thing my mother taught me was to always put my shoes on for days like this. Not flip flops, but actual closed shoes.
If the worst happens and the building you're in is hit by a tornado you need to be able to climb out. Having closed shoes on will protect you and give you the traction needed.
I've been through two tornadoes. One when I was about 7 years old that took out my grandparents' barn, and the other in 1997 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tornado_outbreak_of_July_1%E2%80%933,_1997. While the structure I was living was spared other than some shingles and a few broken windows, homes on either side were damaged and we were stuck for three days while they cleared debris. They went door to door to check on folks and the Red Cross came and fed us.
I was sitting on my couch when that storm happened, and by the time the sirens went off I had seconds to take cover. Having been through that I now take it a lot more seriously. Be safe, folks.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BANANAS!
i counted 3 vortexes. there's one major vortex sucking in the 2 other ones. the broadcaster said it was about 4 miles wide.
