I'm impatiently waiting for today's ''very special'' anniversary gift on #MTGA that #WOTC promised would drop on the 27th. Not sure why, because knowing them it's probably going to be something like 100 gems or a card style for a card I don't own😔 #MagicTheGathering
I love how #WOTC hyped up the 5 Year Anniversary of #MTGA saying ''keep an eye on your inbox on Sept 19th for some sweet rewards'' and all they gave was a single full-art card style for a random mythic😩 Like are you serious?🤔 For fuck sake give us some wild cards, or at the very least some free packs you cheap pricks😖 #MTG#MagicTheGathering
Kind of uncanny how the #unity fiasco is playing out almost exactly like the #wotc#dnd one did early this year.
So stand strong and don't accept any half-baked measures or apologies. Full reversal and something akin to CC'ing the SRD is the only acceptable outcome here.
After 4 straight releases with serialized cards in Collector Boosters, #WotC decided to forego them in #WildsofEldraine. As a result, multiple online retailers are already running markdowns on them.
This speaks to two things WotC has been very slow to learn:
Don't start something unless you plan on continuing to do it.
Don't stop something you've already established a pattern of doing.
This seems like a mistake they just can't stop making... 🤦
Work-related post: Are you currently, or were you previously a fan of Hasbro or Wizards of the Coast? Do you require any form of assistive technology to use the internet (screen readers, magnification, keyboard-only, etc)? Reply with a testimonial about your experience using (or lack of ability to use) their sites or apps and I can make sure that gets put in front of them.
Hey #WotC. Just so you know, went into a FLGS (friendly local game store) and saw “Glory of Giants”. Would have normally been an insta-buy but you’re pissing me off. Bought dominoes instead cause somehow we don’t have any
I'm curious to see what #wotc can do to make being a #dm less daunting for their new revision of #dnd 5th. I spent a lot of time DMing and I agree, the Dungeon Masters Guide was not a useful book at all.
My take is that it's basically a "well, they're saying the right things" with a good dose of "suuuuuuuuurre, if you say so" and "lolwut" mixed in.
At least they say they're pulling the offending pieces from the Bigby book, and recommissioning replacement pieces for inclusion in both digital and future reprints of physical books. That's good.
Despite the #OGL fiasco, I was really looking forward to the upcoming Bigby giant book for #5e. Its subject matter interests me greatly, and its table of contents on #dndbeyond looks solid.
But the new #AI art fiasco with that book is really turning me off.
How #WotC responds to this is going to be important to me. I know I've been more forgiving to them than most -- and I want to continue being forgiving -- but they're making it hard.
[..] While we weren’t aware of the artist’s choice to use AI in the creation process for these commissioned pieces, we have discussed with him, and he will not use AI for Wizards work moving forward. We are revising our process and updating our artist guidelines to make clear that artists must refrain from using AI art generation as part of their art creation process for developing D&D art.
Oh boy, so #WizardsoftheCoast used an artist that used generative "#AI" to "enhance" artwork for #DnD and that's...just a whole a can of worms...
So here's a thread breaking down the rumor from the fact and how it's still incredibly bad on the part of #WotC. Note: If this breaks containment from my normal followers, I have a bias in that I loathe algorithmic generation in art.
What WOTC should be doing instead of whatever the disasters this Masters is.
They should start reprinting old sets for drafting. Let me draft Arabian Nights again! Let new players experience Ice Age for the first time. Put a special dumb border on it if you want.
