Well well well... Andreessen Horowitz admits, in no uncertain terms, that if they had to compensate artists for using their art to train their #aiart ripoff models, that their investments wouldn't be worth it.
Absolutely damning admission which spells out in no uncertain terms that these firms KNOW they are ripping artists off.
I feel there has to be a way of training neural networks to recognise the influence of their training data on the output.
This would probably include training a complementary indexing network + database that would then ”reverse-training” resolve and offer at some predetermined accuracy the #copyright-viable sources for each generated #aiart
I need some help though. A proof would show the companies know it can be done, but they just don’t want to.
Tracy #Hickman (u.a.
I used to use the #AIArt hashtag for the art I post on social media that was machine generated. But no longer ...
The current systems are not intelligent — they are just statistical predictive systems.
I now use the hashtag #GenerativeArt for my machine learning generated art. I think that might be a better description? I don't know that for sure, but it certainly feels better than continuing to use the #AIArt tag 😛
"Tur" consists of 444 mostly black and white images of mysterious, solitary towers in desolate landscapes. The artists used AI to generate the images based on hand-drawn architectural sketches.
I tried to get SD-XL to generate an image of a frog with its eyes closed. It refused. I even cranked up the attention on closed to an absurd level, and it seemed to get sassy with me.
Good morning and happy Friday everyone on the #Fediverse! We've made it to the first weekend of 2024.
Let's kick off the day with our #KoffeeWithKyle chat to discuss what the plans are for today and the weekend.
For me, it is just the usual work stuff. After that, just relax. Might go with friends to the mall and grab something to eat afterward. This weekend I'm not sure yet...as usual. I do have schoolwork to finish.
Are generated images art? Was going to reply to a post, but didn't feel like dunking on somebody else for no reason.
Even if we assume generative AI is only a tool in the hands of a human, like a brush, the tool and the output are not what makes it art or not. It isn't art because of the paint. It isn't art because of the brush, or the canvas, or the beauty of the output.
The art is in the creation, and the human is not really involved in the actual creation.
