Quite vexing that the conjecture that BA.2.86 is at high fractions in South Africa exists since quite some time, but there are not enough epi surveillance data to quantify.
BA.2.86 (Pirola) fractions as per LolliPop (https://github.com/cbg-ethz/cowwid). The table shows most current values (Sept 09-11) and the values since 1 month before. The highest reported fraction is 2.50%, for Bern.
To answer the question, yes you should get a Covid booster. Some good news, The mortality rate continues to drop with each strain. But it's not clear if it's because Covid's getting weaker, or because immunity has strengthened in the population. Probably probably a bit of both.
