“The cats were found dead with no apparent signs of injury and were from a resident population of ≈24 domestic cats that had been fed [unpasteurised] milk from sick cows. Clinical disease in cows on that farm was first noted on March 16; the cats became sick on March 17, and several cats died in a cluster during March 19–20. In total, >50% of the cats at that dairy became ill and died.”

Why does hire loyalists who harm Floridians? How could spreading deadly viruses...? His SG is anti-vax with a policy for Measles, Covid...

"FL SG says unvaccinated kids can continue to go to school. Unprecedented -kids need to stay home for 21 days during an outbreak -chance of infection, hospitalization, death or serious damage to the immune system -kids can get a vaccine if exposed within the past 72 hrs & if they get vaccinated -can return to-."

FL's school measles cluster grows; OH/WA/LA report cases:

3 more measles cases: been reported at an elementary school in Broward Co., FL, raising the total to 6.

The FL DOH in Broward Co. said it's investigating several cases at an elementary school in Weston, FL. It said those at risk incl. those who haven't received the full measles, mumps, & rubella (MMR) vaccine series & those who're immunocompromised.

I deeply respect my IPAC colleagues that defer to experts in respiratory protection, OH&S, and environmental controls when tasked with developing policy for viruses like SARS-CoV-2.
Some even go out of their way to bridge their own knowledge gaps as most have had little or no training in these areas prior to pandemic (neither did anaesthetists)

Reading about tuberculosis. In 1815 - UK, 1 in 4 deaths were due to tuberculosis. If you got it, there was no treatment back then, 50% chance you'd fade away slowly within 5 years. 1921 vaccine, 1946 antibiotics. It's still around and is latent in 1/4 of the population. Makes COVID sound like a walk in the park.

How can public (PH) battle misinformation? One of the problems (among many) they had during the pandemic is variation in messages and communication from different agencies, and changes in messages over time. Maybe PH agencies should work together, pool their resrouces and hire experts in communication -- a large PR firm such as Hill & Knowlton. They create communications programs that can target different audiences, different regions, they do things like create focus groups to determine the best messaging approaches to get concepts across, and use marketing psychology techniques that I'm pretty sure public health agencies and other scientific groups don't use.
Hiring an agency is expensive, but may have helped reduced some of the issues around , and sources of disease.

The US is in the midst of the largest Covid surge since Omicron, but with minimal testing and good population immunity, the wave is largely being ignored.
