Michael Cera has revealed how he struggled with COVID when he was called in to do a last minute fight scene in Barbie.
“I had just gotten over COVID, and they had me training, and I almost died. Just doing the warm-up! I had to lay down in my trailer, and they sent the nurse to see me, and I was sent home."
I've heard good things about the new Barbie movie. Google TV decided to slap it in my face, so I took a look, then I realized that someone was yanking my chain.
$30 to buy.
$25 to rent.
Twenty-five fucking dollars to rent!!!!!!!! I'm not paying this.
Let me tell you what's going to happen. I'm not paying this now. So when am I going to watch it? It is going to fall out of my head, and I'm going to watch it whenever I happen to watch it... maybe never.
The film industry can cry a fucking river about how everybody is "unfair" to them. As far as I'm concerned, all their wounds are self-inflicted.
I'll just rewatch Metropolis, for free, or maybe The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, or some oldie that does not hold a gun to my head and ask for my wallet.
Hollywood: "OMG! He's going to watch something for free. Is he serious??? Let's clutch our pearls and gasp in unison! The cheekiness!!!!!"
🎬 Watched the #Barbie movie with a group of friends last night.
Perhaps after hearing all the hype I'd expected something more? I dunno, it was an okay movie but I didn't find it to be anything groundbreaking and a lot of the humor fell flat for me.
Appreciated the creativity and set designs though. It just wasn't quite what I was expecting and a little overhyped, imo. Was a 5 or 6 of out 10 movie for me, nothing more.
Irgendwie fühlt es sich nicht so an, als hätte ich morgen Geburtstag. Wirkt irgendwie so belanglos.
Ist das normal wenn man älter wird? Also nicht, dass ich mit zarten 34 alt werden würde, aber offenbar ist mein Geburtstag mir ziemlich egal geworden, seitdem ich die 30 geknackt habe? Keine Ahnung. Irgendwie weird.
Ironically anti-barbie sentiment esp around the 90s is more sexist IMO than most Barbie content ever was.
If you know even the slightest "lore", Barbie is a brilliant and successful polymath but since she's attractive people seem to just assume "ALL SHE IS IS LOOKS" which is, of course, standard boring ass racism
Sadly I see a similar thing in video games, tokenization & objectivation is bad, but "big (realistic) boobs = SEX TOY" is a shit attitude too. Women DO exist.
A few times in the past few years I've gone to see a film in a cinema on a weekday morning, showtime starting before 11am or so. Grateful that my schedule is flexible enough to permit this. Since, usually, the air in the theater has had 10 hours of filtration/ventilation/precipitation since the last moviegoers exhaled there, and I'm one of 5-10 viewers at the show, #COVID risk is lower.
I very much enjoyed #Barbie. What a spectacle! That was a MOVIE, something that USED the medium! I laughed out loud many times, teared up several times, and particularly delighted in the many moments when I genuinely did not predict what was coming next. I'm considering nominating it for a Hugo Award.
I'm glad Bill Maher finally went mask off as just an older Joe Rogan. (He criticized the barbie movie as "preachy and man-hating") Greta and co. Have made it so easy to see what that kind of man really stands for, and much easier to excise that type of people from our lives. They also made it easier for kids to learn it too. #barbiemovie
