The lantern on the top of the 1778 Cunningham Mansion at the centre of Royal Exchange Square in Glasgow (now home to the Gallery of Modern Art). This distinctive feature is based on the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates near in Athens which dates from around 334 B.C.
In an improbable confluence of geopolitical strife, childhood wonder and salty air, a Ukrainian watchmaker, Liudmyla Pass, 68, has repaired a 118-year-old town clock in eastern Newfoundland that hadn't told time in decades.

Installed in 2001 and designed by Sharmanka, the sculpture is activated when the steeple bell tolls on the hour. The fish spins, the bird pecks and Saint Mungo raises his staff. I've no idea if it still functions, but I really hope it does.
