It appears to me that the logic does not follow? Help me understand.
My understanding is that neoliberalism is characterised by free markets, deregulation, privatization, globalization, individualism, and monetary policy.
Neither neoliberalism nor climate caused changes to building codes to ensure new buildings are safer or inflation driven largely by authoritarian covid lockdowns and command and control economic actions by western nations taken as a result, and I'm unsure of how neoliberalism or climate change would be the cause of lower than expected donations.
Realistically, the past 50 years have seen many waterways get much much better in the west.
Under capitalism (and neoliberalism is extreme capitalism) everything has a price, and thus must be paid for. In general, waterways are "commons" thus do not have prices for meany things, or are cross subsidized by meany stakeholders. Over the last 40 years we have tried (and often failed) to bring this "price logic" to enclose the water "commons" this is going through a new wave in the UK lead by #CRT and #mainstreaming thinking.
In the UK you can see socialism slowly creeping back after 40 years of worshiping the #deathcult of neoliberlism. The is now no choices but to move away, nice to see tiny steps at last.
The #fediverse is an “accidental” #openweb reboot by the #fashernistas, so it’s herding cats to get anything done, not a bad thing, not a good thing It’s what it is.
One way to move away from this mess is #OGB grassroots #DIY producer governance.
Otherwise, live (and die) with the mess, and try to stop people bowing down and praying to the #deathcult is a step to keep the #openweb in place.
Yes, well, we kinda fucked it up before #failbook came along. The #ossification of #indymedia network from my memory comes to mind. Technology as individualism over technology as social, the blogging revolution and years of pointless #encryptionists projects are good examples. Then the #dotcons puts shiny on their poison pill, and we all swallowed heaps of “social media” and here we are deep in the #deathcult with a vernier of the #openweb on the edge #OMN

One thing I have learned in activism is that people will fight harder to keep the disfuction in place that address the needed change/challenge #stupidindividualism is worshiping the #deathcult here and adding to the mess to be composted.
Our #mainstreaming crew/friends are increasingly pushing pointless prat fights over alternatives to defend their obvious worshipping of the #deathcult for the last 40 years. This "common sense" is going to take time and add a lot of mess to change/challenge.
When I call #mainstreaming people insane, i actually mean this. Common sense is now the illness of 40 years of worshipping the #deathcult, so they is little "sense" left.
