First #mermay of 2023: Red Bellied Piranha Mermaid.
Traditional art drawn with dip pen and coloured with ink washes. Unnecessary tendrils are always necessary.

The idea of a blind contour drawing exercise is to draw someone with a continuous line and especially to not to look down. So @LeapingWoman and I gave it a go for 60 seconds.
Her drawing has recognizable features. Pretty good.
And as you can see, I have proof that I did not look down.
My personal favorite attraction of the The Kushman Brothers' Carnival. It spins around at high speed and makes you lose all of your stuff, luckily you can get it back in the lost and found
Rev 2 from last night. The original was an even number across and this one is much better (says my Extreme Attention To Detail) despite it not being centered on the page.
I've got an #artsupply question which is really hard to answer with information from web pages etc.: How do you prepare your nibs beyond getting rid of the conservant oil or similar coating?
Do you sand them? Adjust the angles with a whetstone?
What is your personal procedure to get from stock nib to favourite "your" nib?
Please boost for coverage. Looking fwd to your answers 🖤
I finally did something about learning how to draw — not just as a technical skill, but cultivating the patience to actually sit and endure the slowness required to do it. inspired by @csilverman to use apple’s note app: i just like how it is automatically dates like a journal and syncs smoothly across all my devices. yes as a former designer i can’t draw to save my life: #drawing#art
