Who has recommendations for best for the value in the US market?

Primary use would be fun and leisure. Want to be able to have good control over human vs electric force to power down for excersize purposes. Not a commuter, not heavy shopping, or anything like that.

My wife and I have never owned electric bikes but have been driving less and less the past few years and would like to get outside together more.

I'm in for a few days. Yesterday I hired an , and fell off at one point because I haven't ridden a bike in years.

The app for hiring them isn't great, but I really like the concept. Plus, there were bike lanes on the busy roads, which helped a lot.

The odometer on my ebike reached 6000km today. I've been using it as my main form of transport for three and a half years now.

A perennial request: What brands are using off-the-shelf batteries and electronics that can actually be serviced and replaced after 95% of these startups go out of business within 5 years.

richardbloomfield, to cycling

A little over 3 years ago I got my electric bike, and this morning I noticed I was up to 5,500km total distance.

It's not a particularly high or notable number, but it represents about 150km a month being cycled rather than driven.

Let's place out bets for how massively out McKinsey is on ANY of their projections. Laughably never get near anything and always hype up the latest tech thingy.

adamjcook,

@CrackedWindscreen I would always bet again McKinsey (given my direct experience with them with US industrial policy in Chicago).

I really do wish there would be an hype cycle in the US, though.

If there was... it was either brief or I missed it.

Maybe then, just maybe, we could drag some of these problem cities out of the Policy Stone Age and get some respectable bicycle infrastructure built around here.
