@SavahRellcast
The metaphor had been dead ever since Trump was elected before, so they're just coming out and saying all their horrible plans with their whole chests now....
@jake4480 Well, I've noticed that MLB The Show is hard to get after the initial release unless you buy it used. Obviously, physical copies are limited release because Sony et al. want you download their games because, as you note in your blog post, the studios and distributers want to have more control over the IP. They'll come a time, as you know, when we'll be renting games instead of buying them outright...
@wendigo ugh. Absolutely this. They'd love it all online, on a server, and then yeah they can shut it down whenever they want, on their whims. I like physical when I can, I even bought physicals of Conan and Diablo IV for the Series X for this very reason. And for Switch we have a bunch of physicals, some really weird ones too. I just counted, we have 15 haha. Not as many as some. But again, I'm semi picky, only keeping the ones we like. I do like having those carts when possible though.
Ok so this photo is insane and represents the advancement in the medical field. It is one of those photos that you could show to people from the past and they will be shocked...
@nrmacdonald Oh yes.
What have we learnt from history?
As a child, I knew old women who had experienced (at least in their families) three wars. They had survived with all devastations of their souls and had only one wish: that humanity will learn that no people wins in a war, even not the winners. But the devastations last for generations ...
I've been seeing so many different cats, that I keep getting the "10,000-Year Earworm to Discourage Settlement Near Nuclear Waste Repositories" song by Emperor X stuck in my head:
In case you don't know the story: this song was commissioned by the 99 Percent Invisible podcast for their episode on how to warn people in the far future to stay away from nuclear waste deposits.
The idea is that no civilisation existed for as long as the time that radioactive waste remains dangerous. Hence, we need ways to warn people that are robust for lost of language, symbols, etc.
One idea was to breed cats that light up in the presence of radiation, and to then create a folk song about the importance of keeping cats, and the importance of leaving (with the cat) when the cat changes colour.
@jake4480 I bet Boston Dynamics has best chance. of making something like a robot cheetah/grayhound. in our lifetimes. now imagine such a thing with guns or lasers mounted on it (ala Dr. Evil's sharks)
but it reminds me of that saying: if you and your friends are on a hike and encounter a bear, dont worry about outrunning the bear -- thats actually impossible in a 1-on-1 race with a bear because theyre MUCH faster than youd assume. instead, you only have to outrun your friends. just one of them
@synlogic 😂🤣 true. I mean it'll probably get there eventually. But it's interesting how our biology and evolution is so advanced. Us animals are all these soft, easily damaged creatures unlike metal but it's for a reason - that flexibility! So wild
