@joel just checked a video of one guy who installed it ... When you switch between koreader and remarkable you lose the page where you were at ... A bit annoying. What are the other advantages of #koreader ?
The fonts looks huge too... At least in that video I saw
@joel Thanks for sharing this! Never seen #KOReader before, but I like the look/sound of it. I have an old Kindle lying around I might try it out on -- the hardware's fine but it's a frustrating process currently trying to get my own EPUBs into it.
@stfn it is the Kobo Clara 2E and it is fantastic. Type C, great screen resolution, backlight, warm light and much more. Also #koreader can be installed which has tons of other features
Finished Book 1 (a third) of #Dune by Frank Herbert and it is really good so far, I actually feel that watching the movie helps quite a bit to understand some things, they compliment each other well so far.
And I use #Koreader instead of the default interface because of the better stats and I don't need to use the specific kepub format (also better support for CBZ files
Thank you so much! Another person, @elsewhere0789, suggested the same in private. I've installed koreader on Android but it is not much user friendly. But I'm looking forward to buy a #Kobo#ereader install #postmarketOS on it and install this #koreader on it.
But that would be about a year from now as I'm having too many technical debts
I'm thinking, a very basic #WM written in #rust which loads koreader and a #gemini browser.
@kubikpixel depending on your use case, you might be interested in @wallabag. does need a (self-hostable or public) server, though, but you can read offline and also sync to #koreader on your e-reader device
@bookstodon
I use #Linux as the main OS on my computers, but also use Windows 10 on one.
For the sole reason to download the #ebooks I buy.
I play the occasional Windows-only game as well, but those I can do without.
I can't do without ebooks.
I really, really wish there was an open standard for getting any ebook, with or without #drm, onto any device without having to rely on a single piece of software from one company. #EU, do something! #DailyRant#PetPeeve#ADE#AdobeDigitalEditions
@picard
However, they run linux and so are quite hackable. #koreader, for instance, is a complete replacement of the user interface (without removing the original, called nickle).
KOReader renders PDFs about twice as fast as the built-in reader application!
There's only one problem: The Tolino doesn't have a back button, so the only way to exit an app is to restart the device. I'm still looking for a way to emulate the back button with a gesture, maybe some #Android expert would know?
I'm still on Goodreads but it's so slow, the app's just an even slower webview of the site and the redesign has made me have to click more to do what I want....
@youronlyone @Deebster The only thing I really really miss with #BookWyrm is an API, I want to be able to automatically synchronize my shelves and individual book status/progress with both #Calibre and #KOReader.
What do you use to track your reading?
