#mainstreaming people are deluded fools in the era of #climatechas and if they are aggressive to the point of #blocking then they are nasty self-destructive deluded fools creating mess and #blocking the change that is needed.

Looked up someone who used to be on here (@vicki, basically stopped posting in March) and went back to their Twitter, and found this exchange. Don’t know how representative it is, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is for a number of “lost” fediverse users. I know vicki tried for a while. Don’t really know how I feel about this.
This is a view of one "tribe" on the fedivers, there are meany, to be welcome here is to #DIY build and nurture your tribe. As you say this is not as easy as #mainstreaming but it is what the #openweb is about. And yes the intolerant crew often do not help, this is a part of #DIY culture as well.
We do have a problem with nuts and nutters in progressive spaces, this is normal. Mix this in with the #mainstreaming mess and little space is left to get stuff done, composting comes to mind.

#fediverse we are going to have waves of #mainstreaming people coming into "our" #openweb counter currents, bringing a lot of non-native, unthinking blinded mess with them, they will push this mess over us as common sense then they will retreat back to #mainstreming and point at us covered in mess... "look these guys are covered in mess we can't work with them...
These are all #mainstreaming in a cultural sense, they push little outside the #deathcult might be worth getting off your knees, lifting your head and looking around as there are cultures outside this narrow depression we live and likely a lot of us are displaced and die in over the next 20 years of #climatechaos
#fashernistas are invested in the world of as it is, are driven by trends and the desire to be seen as normal. It is a critiquing the tendency of some people to value things that come from #mainstreaming sources.
The tag #mainstreaming is obviously crap blinded behaver that leads to people being "blinded" by the influence of #mainstreaming culture, ingrained in these people, rather than something they are consciously choosing. They are not open to alternative perspectives
Discussing #postmodernism and the criticism to “isms”. The idea is that blindly following a particular ideology can make a person a “zombie” to limit the ability to think critically. The phrase #nothingnew is used to suggest that fresh thinking on old issues is needed, rather than blindly following existing dead #mainstreaming ideologies. The use of ad hominem arguments, which is a type of logical fallacy that attacks an individual rather than the argument they are making, is clearly #blocking
In tech the #geekproblem has pushed emancipation into darkness. The #encryptionists have dominated alt-tech and the #dotcons of the #mainstreaming path, both are born of this world view and the socialisation that keeps it from sight.
In social movement we have the take-over of #fashernistas who push “alternatives” aside in their “commonsense” self-interest, building careers and grasping at the illusionists of fame and “influence” they are slaves to #mainstreaming
It’s good that people try not to push pointless tech projects… And the majority of new tech projects are obviously pointless. To get an idea of what to push do a #4opens review and publish this, let’s build a community of useful tech together. We need to do better.
#techchurn has made so much #techshit over the last 10 years. There are piles of #mainstreaming and alt tech that needs to be composted to grow a more humane world.
#fashernista and the media are always a problem that is hard to do anything about. They shift the focus from the grassroots to themselves and tell #mainstreaming stories because this is what the media wants to hear.
The undercurrents that are the story drifts back into the flow and nothing is understood, no change or challenge happens.
We are sold for someone's fragile egos' moment of feeling important.
For a lot of #fashernistas in our spaces, things only matter if they come from #mainstreaming this is obviously crap blinded behaver – but it’s hard to communicate why, likely they can’t see us.
Well, more like they walk right past us looking the other way and takes the big bundle of bills from capitalism.
Listening to the #mainstreaming of the 3 protocol mess, we have a building signal-to-noise issue. We need to push signal, so please think before you share something that is likely noise.
So here’s my thought on the Mastodon/Bluesky divide.
Try every network so you know it’s out there. Know that there are some people who want certain things out of their social media. Know that those may not be the things you want.
I don’t particularly love image-driven social media, so I mostly stay off Instagram. I value openness, so I found a home here.
There are some nice features on Mastodon. There are some nice features on Bluesky. They may not be the things you, personally, want.
This is missing the point of activism, pushing needed change, this is why the #Fediverse exists... meany of our #mainstreaming people making mess are right it is NOT A SPACE FOR their "common sense" it's a place for a grassroots DIY culture - the mess we need to compost is people not seeing this...
