I've been job hunting full time for 2 weeks now. It's exhausting! If you know of any place looking for a Senior/Staff Software Engineer, I have 15 years experience working with Ruby, Rails, and Javascript. More recently the Node.js stuff has been in React. I'm also interested in Rust, Go, and Elixir. Any leads are appreciated!! #ruby#rails#rubyonrails#RubyHire#fedihire#getfedihired
Hi fediverse. My name is Nishiki and I’m a web dev with 15+ years of experience. I’m making myself available as a mentor for one or two motivated individuals looking to land their first junior engineering position. I’m happy to be able to say over the past few years, I’ve mentored 4 wonderful people who have all managed to land their first tech jobs.
Please email me at hello@nshki.com if interested. A boost for reach is much appreciated!
He is a dynamic #Rails & #Ruby core team member and Sr Staff Engineer at @Shopify! When not innovating in tech, he loves whipping up culinary delights, cuddling with feline friends, and crafting quirky software.
Long shot: Any #Rails devs know of a method to add a lang attribute on any text that's missing a translation, so has had to fall back to the default locale? I suspect I might need to write my own i18n backend, but I'd love to find something already out there.
How do I tell Heroku to not install install the #nodejs buildpack at all?
(and remediate this WARNING on every deploy)
WARNING:
Installing a default version (20.9.0) of Node.js.
This version is not pinned and can change over time, causing unexpected failures.
Heroku recommends placing the heroku/nodejs buildpack in front of heroku/ruby to install a specific version of node
Got very very distracted by discovering that Thruster has been released. It's the missing tiny HTTP server shim that #Rails apps have been missing. HTTP/2, X-Sendfile, gzip compression, and more, all with zero config. And with minimal config, built-in HTTPS with Let's Encrypt. Definitely coming to @manyfold sometime soon.
So, I am setting up my instance of #mastodon in a #docker#container , and am having issues getting the #rails app to authenticate with the postgres database. hmmm..
Algoma Canada 132lbs. 1975. Rails have not been manufactured in Canada for ages. Not that we lay much new tracks in Canada but where it is done it is “made in USA” steel.
The #EastCoastRailLink (#ECRL) is anticipated to contribute a 3.8% increase to #Malaysia’s gross domestic product (#GDP) by 2047 by enhancing trade, boosting tourism and stimulating regional development
The ECRL project is more than just a #rail link cutting across #Kelantan, #Terengganu, #Pahang and #Selangor, but can also serve as a cornerstone for economic growth and social progress
Ready to save time with Rails Generators? Soft-launching Frictionless Generators for you great folks today. (The "proper" launch shouldn't be too far off.)
Still a few resources to finish up for the premium version, but the content is complete, and the main cheat sheets and quick reference sheets are included.
Already bought it? Make sure to download the latest updates! And if you have any kind words for testimonials, please pass them along.
I'm hopefully not the only geriatric millennial Rails dev still subscribed to that list. Perhaps you could send out a final message to say that the forum is the new official source?
I just published my first gem, Phlex-Slotable. It is a Slot API for @joeldrapper 's Phlex lib inspired by ViewComponent slots.
I'm already using this on my side-project and it is working fine. I'm planning to add some features to improve its usage (eg. allow passing String as component class name). I'm putting off refactoring the code until these new things are ready.
