I’m pretty far into the leg of the first sock of the pair, so I divided all yarn to make sure I have an equal amount reserved for the second one😃

Finally sorting my laundry, like fully, and putting it all away for the first time in... A While.

I struggled with not having a proper dresser for too long, and finally bit the bullet.

I seem to be missing some lounge shirts... or maybe I just don't have as many as I had thought?

Might need to dig thru the fabric stash for some bamboo knit (I'm sure I've got some somewhere) and whip up a few crop tees.

I... might frog my shrug and start over. I made a few mistakes with it near the beginning, and have screwed up a bit this last row.

The yarn is spendy enough, I think it's worth it. I'm worth a garment that doesn't have a bunch of mistakes.

@tiedye I overdyed this with procion orchid with an 1/8tsp of better black for a cooler toned purple. I was concerned that overdyeing it would cover up all the lovely splits but this came out great!

Two repeats of the pattern done now and the cables are looking so lush.

Need to take a pause for this selfish knitting now as I've got to work on some birthday and Yule gifts. But it'll be waiting for me in the new year.

(reminder to leave off the knitting group if you reply)

Pattern is the Maker's Dozen shrug.

Frock! There's some deeply dodgy sewing in here. I'll show you what it looks like on tomorrow when the sun is back.

Finished the first repeat!

Hoping for a blocking miracle with this one, the single ply Merino looks so... messy, even though I know I have nice tension. Not so much with this I guess.

I love love love unpicking 440 stitches of one ply merino fingering yarn. It's great.

Oh fuck me. I have to pick out half of this row too because I missed that the k1b row changes. And I made a Choice that I was gonna make the effort to fix mistakes, not fudge mistakes on this garment.

Once I get through one full pattern repeat it'll be fine. But fuck me I loathe written patterns. GIMME CHARTS.

I make accessories out of reclaimed fabric and yarn, textiles that have been diverted from landfill. I'm considering a big move out of my very small home space and into a studio. All sales are going towards funding this move! I've got to save up for insurances, bond, furniture and all the stuff I haven't even considered yet.

If you have a gap in your wardrobe for handmade, slow fashion and accessories do check out my shop and pass it on to your friends and family!

Help me save more perfectly good textiles from landfill!

Tonight is a perfect evening. Curled up with a hot cocoa, watching Fey and Flowers (I love you Major Hob), and cast on a new project!

This yarn is a DREAM to work with. It's a single ply merino that is basically just a string of cloud.

Pattern is Maker's Dozen, inspired by braided bread, fitting for a yarn color called Rustic Rye.

Another project finished - a pair of socks I started in May, I think. No fancy sock blockers for the picture as I'm away from home.

They're mostly plain vanilla socks in a rather large men's size. The fancy thing is that I added a simple knit-purl-pattern on top outside quarter and mirrored it to create matching socks. Just enough to keep me a bit entertained. No effort to match the colors was made.

Today's adventure is going to be making some button up tops for my son to wear after his top surgery.

Fabric is currently in the wash, next step is tracing out the pattern from the master sheet into his new size.

My main job today, now that the cutting table has been cleared, is to make sure that the sewing machine table is ALSO cleared.

And testing the cover-stitch machine, it's been a min.

All the fabric I use is from vintage collections, destashes, remnants and other second hand textile sources like clothing. I'm usually able to cut around flaws but sometimes they sneak in! In the case of this hat, the upholstery fabric unravelled quickly once it was cut and as a result some fibres weren't caught in the seams.

I could have consigned this hat to the bin - and a manufacturer may well have simply thrown it away. I want to draw attention to textile waste so it'd be hugely hypocritical of me to cast a hat aside when some simple mending could make it wearable and actually even more interesting.

Visible mending can be so gorgeous! I got a book out of the library the other week and did a bit of weaving to enclose the loose fibres and strengthen the area.

I hope someone will love this hat enough to adopt it and build fabulous outfits around it.

Two patches of visible pink mending on the side of the hat.
A wider angle so you can see the whole bucket hat. A swing tag says "this is trash".

First project for the - on a summer top made from pure linen.

It's very fine yarn, worked with 2.5 mm needles. But I'm rather close, the divide for the armholes is done and I'm close to the front neck line. Then the back and closing the shoulders.

As we're getting another week of summer weather I'm motivated to finish so I can wear it at least once this year.

I've just launched round 2 of my boxy tees on https://www.fancyladyindustries.com

I've also listed the crocheted headbands I've been making!

Almost all the materials used in the Slop Shop range are diverted from landfill. Textile waste is a ginormous problem and making considered choices by reducing, reusing and recycling are all incredibly important. Also let's take down fast fashion.

Please share with your friends who are into and are just cool as hell. I greatly appreciate the support!!

A crocheted headband that says "Cute + Tired" (but only + Tired is visible!)
A close up on a striped tshirt with a filet crochet skull appliqued on it.
A tshirt hanging on a wall that is red and pink, with checkerboard style sleeves and long pink fringe hanging from a pointed yoke.

I'm not much into , but some of these projects look fairly easy to me. But me not knowing much might make me underestimate what problems could arise.

The dreaded May dress project is two tasks away from finished. I need to hem the length and tack the pockets to the waistband. I'm not full on happy with it, but honestly it's probably because it took me so long. -Oh and find all the loose strands because I hate finding those while I'm out in public.

And then I had to have a really bad break out so no face pics today but yeah almost done

What happens if I radically cut out the too-tight ugly sleeves? It changes! Fits, except at the waist. A simple trick: I remove the buttons. And close it with a single beautiful button that sits in the place of the left one. I just have to hem the sleeves again, done! @sewing
