I don't actually have time today to work on any side projects, but I thought I'd run through the basic setup steps for MonoGame aaaand
./bin/Debug/net6.0/MyGame
bash: ./bin/Debug/net6.0/MyGame: cannot execute: required file not found
... which required file ._. ???
I think this sort of thing means it tried to dynamically link something and failed. I run into this whenever I try to run loose builds of Linux games on #NixOS, but idk what to do about it.
PSA - If your Steam Deck or Steam on Linux has started failing to download or launch Proton games, you may have caught a bad config from Valve's servers.
We believe the problem is fixed now, but you need to delete a cache file locally (~/.steam/steam/userdata/<steamid>/config/compat.vdf where <steamid> is your id).
Already overwhelmingly positive. I quite enjoyed the first one, don't think I ever finished the story, but it's a good game and I expect the second will be just as grand!
Anyone going to get it early? Will you wait? Did you play it already?
Outside of the countries without PSN loosing access I saw this whole Hell Divers 2 thing as ridiculous. But hell, If review bombing actually gets publishers to stop doing evil shit I’m all for it … #gaming#psn#helldivers2#steam
#Steam are refunding Helldivers 2 even though it's #Sony that are being morons.
I know Steam are not without criticism, but can you tell me of one other modern company that would do this for many thousands of its customers?
I'm the first to attack companies for bad practice but I also hand out deserved praise when companies act properly and #Valve deserve a lot of credit for how they've handled this.
I only wish there was some other way to reward them as I'm already a regular customer.
All the best parts of #TF2: no cosmetics, no unusuals, no unbalanced weapons, no ranks, no aimbots. It doesn't clog RAM and CPU, has polished settings, lighting, gamemodes, better achievements. Easy #LinuxGaming with #Proton and in-house installer. Not to mention that the game is constantly maintained by Team #Eminoma.
I'm like a teenager again, so much fun playing #TeamFortress2 again, hahaha! :0080:
I mean, fair is fair. You don't just nilly-willy port #Valve's assets or any other developer's IP, for that matter, without licensing. It's problematic not only for the violator, but for originator down the line, as well. Such is the case with #TeamFortress2, and same with privately made gizmos from #Nintendo.
Whether some proprietary things were made in good faith or not is irrelevant, because, from standpoint of business, both this and depending project end up in association of some sort (unlike endorsement where both sides support each other on "paper").
> some amateur devs might start thinking twice before they start their next Half-Life fan project
...is but a consequence of dev understanding that their fan game won't make it to the finish line where it can proudly stay storefront and let Valve rest in comfort, knowing that it's linked to decent use of assets and not yet another wasteland.
Negative reviews on #Steam that begin with "this game is too expensive" drive me crazy. Seriously, I'll be the judge of that. If you feel like penalizing an independent game because you think it's too expensive you're an asshole.
